The distribution pattern of functional diversity has always been a hot research topic in macroecology.Research on species diversity in Inner Mongolia has been increasing gradual. While the research on functional diversity is relatively few.Based on the community survey of 194 field plots in the Inner Mongolia steppe, the functional traits of a variety of species were measured.By calculating the functional diversity index of the community and combined the modern climatic factors, paleoclimate factors and the vegetation normalization index, explore the effect of paleoclimate and modern climate on the functional diversity of Inner Mongolia steppe community, and determine which hypothesis is most suitable for explaining the geographical pattern of functional diversity in the region. The results of our study are as follows:1.With the increase of latitude and longitude, the functional richness and dispersion tend to increase.2.The mean annual temperature, min temperture of coldest month, potential evapotranspiration, paleoclimatic temperature change have extremely significant negative correlations with function richness and functional dispersion. The mean annual precipitation,NDVI were significant positive correlations with function richness and functional dispersion.3.Paleoclimate factors explain the functional richness separately by 7.2%,modern climate factors alone explain the functional richness separately by 5.1%,paleoclimate and modern climate factors jointly explain the rate of 42.6%.Paleoclimate factors alone explained the functional dispersion of 12.9%,modern climate factors alone explain the functional dispersion separately by 11.1%,paleoclimate and modern climate factors jointly explain the rate of 31.6%.Paleoclimate and modern climatic co-operate on Inner Mongolia steppe community functional diversity of geographical pattern.4.Climate stability hypothesis and water-energy dynamic hypothesis better explain the distribution pattern of functional richness.Climate stability hypothesis and productivity hypothesis better explain the distribution pattern of functional dispersion.
