In this paper,based on the Stokes vector-Muller matrix method and Monte Carlo algorithm,the transmission of polarized light in different scattering systems(including monodisperse and polydisperse systems)is simulated.Here,we mainly discuss the transmission characteristics of polarized light under the influence of various factors,such as incident wavelength,particle size,refractive index of particle and polarization state of incident light.Meanwhile,we also systematically analyze the general transmission law of polarized light in scattering medium,and use this law to retrieve the composition of particle from scattering medium.The main research content of this paper is divided into the following aspects:(1)The scattering mechanism and polarization characteristics of light waves are studied.In this paper,we mainly give two kinds of common scattering theories(including Rayleigh scattering and Mie scattering theories),and analyze the difference and relationship between the two theories.At the same time,we analyze the polarization phenomenon caused by scattering and give some physical explanation.On this basis,we also give several methods of expressing the polarization state of light waves.Finally,in order to realize the transmission of polarized light in scattering system,we introduce the Monte Carlo algorithm in detail.(2)The evolution of polarization states of different polarized light in scattering medium is studied.Based on Monte Carlo ray tracing technology,we simulate the evolution of polarization state of polarized light in monodisperse and polydisperse media.The simulated results show that polarized light experiences more scattering events in Mie scattering environment,but the situation is reverse in Rayleigh scattering environment.At the same time,based on Rayleigh and Mie scattering theories,we analyze the difference of scattering process between circularly polarized and linearly polarized light in different scattering media.Besides,we can analyze the depolarized reason of biological tissue through understanding the interaction mechanism of polarization light and scattering medium.(3)The transmission characteristics of polarized light are researched in diseased tissues.We investigate the transmission of polarized light in cancerous tissues,and compare the transmission characteristics of polarized light in healthy and cancerous regions.The simulated results show that polarized light has the different distribution of intensity and degree of polarization between healthy and cancerous regions,and the cancerous state of biological tissues can be analyzed according to the parameters of emitting photons.In addition,the transmission distance of polarized light is inversely proportional to the scattering medium thickness.(4)The multispectral characteristics of polarized light are investigated.By exploring the multispectral characteristics of polarization light in different dispersion systems,we probe into the influence of wavelength on the penetration performance of incident polarized light,and obtain the optimal transmission wavelength in scattering medium.The simulated results show that polarized light has good transmission characteristics in infrared band.
