Polarization properties of atmospheric scattering of light are closely related to changes of atmospheric environment. Therefore, light exhibits different scattering properties in atmosphere transmission and causes a change in its polarization properties. In this dissertation, we firstly analyze the influence of environmental factors of atmospheric scattering. To study polarization transmission characteristics of light in typical atmospheric environment, we design atmospheric polarization optical simulation device for multiple scattering media characteristics. Also we apply Muller matrix simulation for analyzing properties of targeted media in different atmospheric environments. The main work is as follows:(1) We present theoretical simulation model of the main environmental factors and dielectric optical properties. According to characteristics of the atmospheric environment, we study the polarization properties of scattered light turbulence and aerosol media under the media change, analyze the light transmission characteristics of the atmospheric environment, and discuss the influence of environmental factors such as temperature and humidity to the scattering particles.(2) We design atmospheric polarization optical simulation device. On the basis of theoretical research and simulation analysis on the influence of environmental factors including atmospheric temperature and humidity, air flow for polarized light transmission characteristics, the design of the device includes the atmospheric aerosol environment simulation, mist environment simulation, temperature and humidity control, concentration detection and other functions. Also the device can provide multiple light sources, environments, polarization measurements and other characteristics for related applied research experiments.(3) We propose a method to apply two-dimensional scattering Mueller matrix elements for analyzing environmental characteristics of atmospheric media. Aiming at analysis of scattering media characteristics, we analyze the polarization characteristics of light and variation Mueller matrix elements in different atmospheric environment by means of the Monte Carlo Method. And experimental results show the feasibility of the method.
