Easy weathering and disintegration is one of the most prominent characteristics of the clay-bearing rocks.Slaking characteristics of clay-bearing rock is one of the main factors that affect the stability of geotechnical engineer under the influence of environmental factors.Therefore,the study of slaking characteristics of clay-bearing rock has important significations and practical values for accurate evaluation of the long-term stability of clay-bearing engineering.This paper took the clay-bearing rock collected from the Haizhou coal gangue piles of Fuxin,Liaoning,as a case study sample.Disintegration ratio,jar slake index and void volume were chosen as characterization parameters of the disintegration of clay-bearing rock.some laboratory tests of slaking were performed under different pH values,the freezing-thawing and drying-wetting circulated laboratory conditions.Finally,slaking characteristics of clay-bearing rock under hydro-chemical effect were reached through synthetic analysis.The conclusions from the results mentioned above were following: The average uniaxial tensile strength of the samples was 0.32 MPa,and the average uniaxial compressive strength was 8.51 MPa.It was a special type of soft rock.In the jar slake test,each sample immersed in water did not disintegrate within 24 hours,and they represented block slaking after 2 cycles.The clay-bearing rocks belonged to weak level in the degree of disintegration.The sequences of disintegration ratio and void volume under chemical effect both were neutral>alkali>acid,which indicated that the rank of these samples in different pH solutions as slake durability was neutral>alkali>acid.Compared with drying-wetting cycles,the freezing-thawing cycles could reduce void volume by 0.41%,and the disintegration period of the samples was shortened from ten to seven cycles,indicating that its lake durability was weakened greatly.
