The Huiyang Clay deposits is located in the coastal area of Guangdong province,in which the mining and prospecting of mineral deposits are restricted because of the limited research.According to the ore deposit exploration data, combined with the indoor research, the following systematical analyzing methods are be used to study the composition of clay minerals, such as thermal spectrum analysis, electron microscope,X-ray diffraction line analysis, spectral analysis, and mineral processing experiment and so on.In addition,by studying the lithology, mineral compositions and chemical characteristics of the parent rocks, comparing the different characteristics of ore body clay of different ore bodies, the relationship between the ore-forming parent rock weathering and clay, the factors of geological background, climatic water medium condition, topography and geomorphology which restrict the mineralization can be analysized.Based on the above research, the characteristics of the ore body and the forming conditions of the ore deposit are summarized, which provides theoretical and practical basis for prospecting and mining of ore deposits. The analysis and research shows that there are 34 ore bodies in this clay deposit, and the mineral resource reserves are 112b;the thickness of the ore body is relatively stable, but the boundary is irregular. The ore minerals are mainly kaolinite and halloysite, followed by illite and gibbsite. The content of the clay mineral is up to50-85%,which belongs to second-grade ceramic clay.According to the composition of the parent rock granite, the clay mineral is mainly produced by the reaction of feldspar and mica minerals. The elution rate of the concentrate, the content of the beneficial component Al2O3,kaolinite and halloysite are positively correlated with the degree of weathering. The protolithic muscovite and diorite granites are parent minerals. The weathered residual clay deposits are formed by the hydrothermal alteration and weathering of the parent mineralized rock under suitable geological conditions, climatic water medium conditions and topographic conditions. The scale of the intrusive rock in Yanshanian, the alteration of the granite body, the degree of weathering, and the integrity of the weathering crust are the three key points for forming a certain quality and scale clay deposit.Clay mineralization is concentrated in the northeast direction and the northern and southern edge, therefore, the future mining around the mining area should be focused on these areas..
