Biodiversity loss is currently one of the biggest issues with global impacts on natural and social environments.Identifying conservation hotspot provides scientifc baselines for reasonable allocation of limited resources for effective biodiversity conservation.The difference of conservaiton priorities frequently misleads the need for scientific reseaches,causing the misallocation of conservation endeavors.The Hengduan Mountains region of the Northwest Yunnan Province in China is one of the global biodiversity hotspots.The conservation value in biodiversity of Biluo Snow Mountain has been largely ignored even this area is widely admitted as a crucial geographic unit for the Hengduan Mountains.Related studies on Biluo Snow Mountain are few and the basic data on biodivesity is rare under a poor scientific fundation.As the development of protected area system in China,the conservation value of Biluo Snow Mountain under human disturbance is getting more and more attentions,and there is a growing need for the researches on conservation hotspot as well.We chose Biluo Snow Mountain in Yunnan Province as the study area.Using literature survey,field survey,online database,herbarium specimen,etc.,this study,(1)built a basic information databse on national key protected wild plant species;(2)simulated the spatial distribution of plant diversity and importance value under the potential distribution methodology;(3)produced the spatial patterns of the synthetic human disturbance combining the data on social economic context,road network and residential place;and(4)identified the spatial patterns of conservation hotspots on plant diversity.The main findings were as followings:(1)The area with high plant diversity in the west slope of Biluo Snow Moun ain was mainly distributed in the north and south parts with elevation ranging from 1009 to 3300 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Yunlong,Fugong and Lushui were mainly involved.The area with high-biodiversity in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 1545-4400 m.Several counties like Weixi,Deqin,Lanping and yunlong were mainly involved.The area with moderate plant diversity in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 714-4360 m.Several counties like Fugong,Lushui,Yunlong and Gongshan were mainly involved.The area with moderate plant diversity in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in the north and south parts with elevation ranging from 724 to 4595 m.Several counties like Deqin,Yunlong,Weixi and Lanping were mianly involved.The area with low plant diversity in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 668-4841 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Fugong,Yunlong and Lushui were mainly involved.The area with low plant diversity in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 668-6695 m.The area with high importance value in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in the north and south parts with eleveation ranging from 1009-3500 m.Several counties like Gongshan and Yunlong were mianly involved.The area with high importance value in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 1545-3983 m.Several counties like Weixi,Deqin,Lanping and Yunlong were mainly involved.The area with moderate importance value in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 714-3986 m.Several counties like Fugong,Lushui,Yunlong and Gongshan were mainly involved.The area with moderate importance value in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in the north and south parts with elevation ranging from 724-4595 m.Several counties like Deqin and Yunlong were mainly involved.The area with low importance value in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 668-4841 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Fugong,Yunlong and Lushui were mainly involved.The area with low importance value in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 668-6695 m.Several counties like Lanping,Deqin,Weixi and Yunlong were mainly involved.(3)The area with high-level synthetic human disturbance was mainly distributed in the south part and low-elevation areas of both slopes in Biluo Snow Mountain with elevation ranging from 744-4108 m.Several counties like Yunlong,Fugong and Lushui were mainly involved.The are with moderate-level synthetic human disturbance was mainly distributed in the south part and low-elevation areas of both slopes in Biluo Snow Mountain with elevation ranging from 701-4672 m.Several counties like Yunlong,Lushui,Lanping and Weixi were mainly involved.The area with low-level synthetic human disturbance was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts in Biluo Snow Mountain with elevation ranging from 762 to 6658 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Fugong,Lushui,Deqin,Weixi and Lanping were mainly involved.(4)The area with high-level conservation hotspot in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in the north and south parts with elevation ranging from 807 to 3500 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Yunlong and Fugong were mainly involved.The area with high-level conservation hotspot in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 927 to 3786 m.Several counties like Weixi,Deqin,Lanping and Yunlong were mainly involved.The area with moderate-level conservation hotspot in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 7 14-4130 m.Several counties like Fugong,Lushui and Yunlong were mainly involved.The area with moderate-level conservation hotspot in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed in the south part with elevation ranging from 768-4497 m.Several counties like Yunlong and Weixi were mainly involved.The area with low-level conservation hotspot in the west slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 701-4841 m.Several counties like Gongshan,Fugong,Yunlong and Lushui were mainly involved.The area with low-level conservation hotspot in the east slope of Biluo Snow Mountain was mainly distributed from the north to the south parts with elevation ranging from 739-6658 m.Several counties like Lanping,Deqin,Weixi and Yunlong were mainly involved.Related studies on biodiversity and conservation in Biluo Snow Mountain is quite limited and has generated poor scientific references.It is necessary to enhance current scientific studies from multiple aspects with specific focus on the basic researches,and then could provide robust theoretical baselines for biodiversity conservation endeavors in the future.The synthetic human disturbance was mainly distributed in the area with low-elevation.The development of current road network will produce negative impacts on the hotspot areas and remaining rare species in lower areas.Our study also revealed some problems in the system of biodiversity conservation,such as basic reseaches,conservation gap,conservation priority setting system,human disturbance,etc.It takes time and targeted approaches for the possible solutions.It must be noted that there are limitations in our research and further studies should focus on them.The major fingdings from this studies could provide theorotical basilines for further steps and scientific evidences for biodiversity conservation in Biluo Snow Mountain in the future.
