state of polarization(SOP)plays an important role in modern high-speed optical fiber communication and optical fiber sensing.Polarization mode dispersion(PMD)and polarization dependent loss(PDL)have become important factors that restrict the speed of modern high-speed optical communication.Therefore,the control and generation of state of polation(SOP)has also become a very important and very promising research direction.At present,there are many methods for polarization control,but most of them have slow speed,low precision,and can only produce a few specific state of polarization.This article controls using a new polarization control algorithm Three cascaded motorized PZTs squeeze the fiber to produce an accurate polarization state.It has the advantages of high precision,high speed,and pure digitalization.The resulting average polarization state error is less than 0.5%.Poincare sphere coverage is 100%and insertion loss is less than 0.5dB.This paper first describes and analyzes the control principle of the widely used polarization controller,and then focuses on the analysis of the control principle of the PZT squeezed polarization controller,and the polarization state generator algorithm and control principle designed on this basis.Analyze and explain,and test the performance of the polarization generator built.The specific work results are as follows:1.Analyze the "blind area" problem of the polarization generator.2.A new control algorithm for precise and high-speed control of polarization state is proposed.First,a coarse control is performed using a linear control algorithm,and then a fine-tuning is performed using a variable-step stepping algorithm.3.Set up a polarization state generation system,including the preparation of the program,the debugging of the control circuit,and the detection of the piezoelectric ceramic performance.Completed the high-speed precision polarization generator part of the hardware construction,and all the software algorithm aspects of the preparation of the program.After verifying the performance of the polarization state generator,the average error from the arbitrary polarization state to the target polarization state on the Poincare sphere is only 0.03rad,and the Poincare sphere coverage is 100%.4.Experimentally verifying its application in polarization mode dispersion compensation and polarization main state,using a polarization mode dispersion compensation system based on a precision polarization state generator to compensate for first-and second-order polarization mode dispersion and use fixed The analyzer method(FA)measures the effect after compensation.And use it to proofread the polarization main state of piezoelectric ceramic extrusion simulation outside pressure.
