Landscape genetics is the amalgamation of landscape ecology and population genetics. This discipline aims to provide information about the interaction between landscape features and microevolutionary processes, such as gene flow, genetic drift and selection. Results from such studies may have great implications for biodiversity conservation and reserve management. The field currently deals with two main topics.First, landscape and environment are evaluated by considering their effects on migration, dispersal and gene flow, which are measured in terms of neutral genetic variation.Second, landscape genetics has started to explore the interaction between environment and adaptive genetic variation in natural populations and individuals,a new field often referred to as landscape genomics. However,Landscape genetics of plants lags behind that of animals. The study design and analytical approaches are different between them.We used spatially explicit,individual-based simulation modeling to explore the size of the habitat affected genetic diversity and the interactions of variable population size and density with habitat area and configuration in influencing genetic differentiation. We found landscape genetic effects are often not detectable when habitat is highly connected. There are scale effects of landscape fragmentation, the degree of landscape fragmentation is not serious, the habitat patches of dominant position has not been changed,so habitat area was reduced to a certain extent it will impact on the genetic diversity. For example,a study of a species in one landscape may find a certain landscape variable to have a large effect on genetic differentiation, while in another its effect may appear much weaker and relatively less important. In addition,we used simulation modeling to explore the interactions of variable population size with habitat area and configuration in influencing genetic differentiation,we found that For populations of different sizes,The ability of metrics to predict genetic differentiation of each landscape is different. Our study make the important contributions to evaluated the predictive genetic differentiation ability of landscape metrics.
