Coastal zone is strip of the waterway border,double with marine and terrestrial characteristics,it has uniqueness in material composition,spatial distribution and evolutionary changes.Monitoring the changes in the coastline and the land use changes of the Bay area of the Pearl River,analysis of the changing process,characteristics and evolution in depth,it could works for shoreline planning of urban agglomeration and ecological protection in the Pearl River Delta,it could provides the accurate,comprehensive basis data and decision support,it makes great value for ecological environment protection of the Pearl River region.Based on the multi-source remote sensing data,using GIS and remote sensing analysis methods,gets the data shoreline change and coastal land use change of the Pearl River estuary Bay area in 1990,2000 and 2012.And according to seven types of change indexes,to study the coastline spatial and temporal variations,spatio-temporal patterns of land use change and the interaction between land and sea of the two periods in the Bay area of the Pearl River estuary,and to summary each variation and reasons.Main conclusions were as follows:(1)The characteristics of shoreline spatio-temporal changes indicate that coastline of the Bay area of the Pearl River estuary keeping on increase during 1990-2012,which changes a larger region are concentrated in the eight entrance near the sea,especially in southern of Zhuhai,southern of Guangzhou and Qianhai of Shenzhen.Coastline on the east coast of the Pearl River is more complete,not change significantly;But the west coastline broke obviously,and compared to the west coastline,east coastline forward in parallel.It means that the special geographical situation affecting the coastline change.(2)The intensity of coastline change indicates that,from the time course,the intensity of coastline keeping on increase.From the spatial variation,during the first period shoreline strength increases order is Zhongshan>Shenzhen>Guangzhou,strength reduces order is Dongguan>Zhuhai;During the second period shoreline strength increases order is Shenzhen>Guangzhou>Dongguan>Zhuhai,the reduces of strength is only in Zhongshan.During the monitoring period,natural shoreline continued to decline,by 2012 the natural coastline is only for 37.48km,located in Dongguan and Zhuhai.(3)The result of land use change shows that the main land use type were construction land,agriculture land and wood land,the increase of construction land rapidly from take up agriculture land and wood land.The information entropy of land use shows that,on west coast the information entropy wavelike rises,but on east coast it continues to fail,all of them prove that there are big difference between the east and west,like patterns of economic,urbanization and industrialization development,the more equal distribution of land use type on the east coast.Urban development,population increase,economic growth,Government decisions and other human activities have important effects on coastal land use pattern changes.(4)The degree of land use change shows that:Deviation from natural direction changes accounted for more than 70%of the study area,stronger changes region focus on the junction with coastlines,which with human activity frequently,which shows that the most in Dongguan and the least in Zhongshan.The band analysis of land use shows that urbanization rate reaches a maximum at 2-4km far from the Mainland coastline in 1990 and 2012,and there is a coupling relationship between urbanization rate and land use change index.The expansion of construction land of Guangzhou and Zhongshan with more than one center in study area.(5)Land-sea interactions result shows that,the structure of coastline and the change of land use degree index correlation significantly,Each two of Zhongshan,Shenzhen and Zhuhai relate stronger;Reclamation,coastal road construction,airport construction and residential expansion,expansion of farming land and other human activities are the main cause of natural shoreline disappeared.Different land use pattern of the diked tidal flat area are influenced by structured and random factors.
