Handan-Xingtai area,which lies in the south of Hebei Province,is an important enrichment region of metal minerals,especially of iron ore.The BaijianIron Mine is the largest mine which has been verified in t Handan-Xingtai area,and typically reflects the geological characteristics in this area.With the rapid development of the national economy in the recent decades,the demand of iron ore in all kinds of production has been increasing year after year,but there are large gaps between the amount of verified iron minerals and the demand.Consequently,it has become the top priority of prospecting to find more iron mines by constant calculation about mineralization.Recently,the geological units have been summarizing the laws of mineralization and actively carrying out deep prospection.Finally,the Baijian Iron Mine was found in the south of Xingtai.This article takes the Baijian Iron Mine in Hebei Province as the research subject for anatomy,uses geochemical tests and analysis methods,and analyzes geological conditions for mineralization,the character of mineralizing materials and metallogenic fluids and the sources of them.On the basis of the analysis,the metallogenic mechanism is discussed,the genetic types of ore deposit are confirmed,and the mineralization model is built.Thus there can be more theoretical basis and technical support for the mineralization prospection in Handan-Xingtai area.The main conclusions are as follows:1.In the Baijian Iron Mine,the orebody mainly exists in the east and west of the anticline of Baijian,above the contact zone of magmatite and Middle Ordovician limestone,and between the layers of limestone near the contact zone.It is mainly controlled by the form and structure of the interface between the magmatite and limestone.Due to its large scale,deep hiddenness,high grade,the Baijian Iron Mine is a typical contact metasomatic iron deposit.2.The surrounding rocks of the orebody in the Baijian Iron Mine are mainly Middle Ordovician in Majiagou,as well as dolomitic limestone and calcite dolomite in Cixian.Thanks to the magmatic activity in the stage of Yanshan,there are all kinds of alteration in the surrounding rocks.The most common alteration is albitization,which is the mostly related to Mineralization.Albitization promotes iron in the rock to separate out,then the mineralizing materials flow into ore-forming fluid,with the structural control of folds and faults,they accumulate and deposit in certain physical and chemical conditions.3.The main magmatic rock in Baijian Iron Mine is acidic concealed rock.We collects rock and mineral samples and make geochemical test about microelement and rare earth element.The result shows: mineralizing materials in Baijian Iron Mine mainly come from magmatite rock of late Yanshan stage around the orebody,of which diorite and quartzmonzonite,which belong to calc-alkaline series,are the most common;the ore-forming fluid mainly sources from magmatic hydrothermal,and some atmospheric water is interfused in the fluid.4.This article summarizes the metallogenic model and prospecting criteria of the Baijain Iron Mine,which provides theoretical basis and technical support for metallogenic prognosis in Handan-Xingtai area.
