Study On Current Status And Development Countermeasures Of Barn Sheep Feeding In Huan County Of Gansu Province

Grasslands are fundamental to the development of herbivorous animal husbandry and the barrier of ecological protection.In recent years,as the rapid development of animal husbandry and the increased market demand for animal products,overgrazing of rangelands has been becoming more and more serious,leading to rangeland degradation and the area decrease year by year.The vegetation density and coverage decrease gradually,which results in a large gap to meet the forage demand of animals.In order to strengthen the protection of rangeland ecology and promote the sustainable development of rangelands,some strategies,such as the restoration of cropland to grassland,rest and rotational grazing,and barn feeding,are carried out in various regions.This has reduced the damage to rangelands,promoted the transformation of traditional producing mode of livestock industry,raised the efficiency and productivity of animal husbandry,and increased the income of farmers and herdsmen.It has played a very important role in the production and development of modern animal husbandry.In this study,we took Huan County of Gansu Province as an example and explored the production and development of sheep feeding in 5 towns of Huancheng,Quzi,Tianshui,Bazhu and Tianchi.The problems restricting the further development of barn sheep feeding in this region were also analyzed.And finally the corresponding countermeasures were proposed to help building the new structure,new mode of sheep feeding in Huan County.The main results are as follows:The animal husbandry is the traditional industry in Huan County.Barn sheep feeding is playing a remarkable role in this region.Meanwhile,sheep barn feeding can help to relieve rangeland degradation and promote the development of modern animal husbandry in Huan County.There were 1.14 million barned sheep with one third put in the market.There were 11.6×10~4 ha cultivated grassland.There were differences in the scale of sheep feeding in 5 towns.There were more leading enterprises and breeding cooperatives in Huancheng,which was superior in scale and culture.The significant achievements in barn sheep feeding of this region would be attributed to the strong supports of national and local policies,increasing supports of forage supplies,and promotion of animal husbandry enterprises and agricultural cooperation.Through the survey of 5 towns and combined with the relevant information on the development of sheep industry in Huan county.The further development of barn sheep feeding in Huan County still had some restrictions,such as 1)Less investment in infrastructure construction,2)Lower levels of feeding technologies and management skills,3)Inadequate forage supplies,and4)Lack of willingness for barn feeding,and immature large-scale production of barn sheep feeding.Comprehensive analysis of the problems in sheep raising in Huan county,and combined with the investigation of the investigation of 5 towns.Based on the experiences of sheep feeding industry in developed areas at home and in abroad,some corresponding solutions and countermeasures were then proposed in this study,trying to help solving the issues restricting further development of barn sheep feeding.We proposed 1)To increase infrastructure investment,2)To promote feeding technology and management skill,3)To integrate artificial grassland resources and establish forage production and processing base,and 4)To update the farmers'knowledge on barn sheep feeding,expand the scale of barn feeding,and use the co-operatives and new enterprises more.Conclusively,the development of barn sheep feeding can help to change the traditional mode of sheep feeding,and optimize the utilization of natural grasslands.It can also promote the structure adjustment of agriculture and animal husbandry,and improve the production efficiency of sheep feeding,which will provide guarantees on product quality and safety,and outcomes.Barn sheep feeding in Huan County may promote the development of modern animal husbandry in this region,and help sheep feeding industry to achieve large-scale,intensive,standardization and industrialization production.It may also show ecological,economic and social benefits.
