The Study Of Editorial About Science Popularization On People's Daily(1978-2002)

The editorial about science popularization on People's Daily(1978-2002)are investigated in this paper.In this article,we mainly use the measurement statistics and literature reading method to divide the science popularization in different stages.Also,we clarify the main content of science popularization,and distinguish the different discourse types of science popularization.Our aim is to summarize and discuss the experience and shortage of the editorial about science popularization on People's Daily,then propose some measures to improve it.In our country,during the new period from 1978 to June 29 th 2002,the law of the science popularization in People's Republic of China was issued and implemented.This period has opened a new era in the history of science in our country,and it's great significant for the new century,thus has high research value.Through establish,statistical and analyze the database of People's Daily editorial,we found out that the editorial about science popularization on People's Daily was mainly divided into three stages: from 1978 to 1984,it was the outbreak period,the quantity and length of the editorial was the most;from 1985 to 1990,it was the quiet period,there were few editorials about science popularization on People's Daily;from 1991 to 2002,it was a stable period,the science was valued once again,and the editorial about science popularization on People's Daily was relatively stable.This trajectory was also coincides with the development of science in China.Based on the same database and reading the content of editorials we can find,during this period the editorial about science popularization on People's Daily mainly included five aspects: popularizing scientific knowledge,advocating scientific method,carrying forward the scientific spirit,disseminating science politics,praising scientific research advanced.From then on,it could be seen that the content of the editorial about science popularization on People's Daily was comprehensive.After statistical and analyze the corpus database of high frequency words,we found that the discourses of editorial about science popularization on People's Daily mainly included three types: the revolutionary discourse,the structural discourse and the science discourse.At the beginning of reform and opening-up,the revolutionary discourse also occupied the popularization on the mainstream of the editorial about science popularization;in the mid 1980 s,the structural discourse became the main logic,after the 1990 s,the science discourse gradually dominated the thinking on science popularization.From this process it could also be seen that our country science development gradually mature process.Although in the meantime,People's Daily had achieved some achievements in publicity of the science popularization,but there were some insufficient: first,the science discourse accounted for less;Second,it was insufficient to popularize scientific knowledge;The third was that the discourse on the science popularization was greatly influenced by politics.If you want to change this situation,it is necessary for the state to attract policy support and increase publicity;Update the communication concept and pay attention to the audience's needs;Establish the science popularization funds and increase the issuance;Strengthen personnel training,improve scientific quality.In this way,it will be more conducive to the development of science popularization in the period of socialist construction in the new era.
