China-Central Asia Energy Cooperation Research - Geopolitical Perspective In The Background Of The Belt And Road Initiative

Since the launch of the “Belt and Road Initiative” in 2013,it has provided China with a good opportunity to increase the level of foreign energy cooperation.Due to the existing cooperation foundation and good political relations,China-Central Asia has created fruitful cooperation achievements in energy field.But energy cooperation is a highly sensitive and strategic cooperation,there are also many unfavorable factors behind China-Central Asia energy cooperation.On the basis of strengthening advantages and clarifying challenges,China must seize the key opportunity of “The Belt and Road Initiative”,continuing to promote China-Central Asia energy cooperation and the establishment of a mechanism system,improving its own energy security and status and focusing on long-term strategic interests.This article will interpret China-Central Asia energy cooperation from a geopolitical perspective.This article firstly reviewed the geopolitical theory,analyzed the important geopolitical values of Central Asia and the current situation of China’s geography,clarifying the perspective of the article.Then it comes to the foundations and advantages of bilateral cooperation,including the economic foundations,political advantages and “The Belt and Road” opportunities.Next presenting the results of bilateral cooperation-the China-Central Asia good energy cooperation pattern,focusing on three outcomes from the perspective of geopolitics: the improvement of the geopolitical position of Central Asia,the formation of the Silk Road Energy Economic Belt and improvement of China’s geopolitical situation.The next section mainly analyzes the risks and challenges,including the internal factors of Central Asia,the complex geopolitical situation in Central Asia,the misunderstandings of China’s initiatives and the "Non-mechanization" issue in the process of energy cooperation.On the basis of the foregoing research and analysis,the last part proposes to overcome the unfavorable factors in the energy cooperation,continue to promote China-Central Asia energy cooperation and provide three measures and recommendations for implementing the relevant constructions of “Belt and Road Initiative”,strengthening financial cooperation and cooperation institutionalization as the end of the entire study.
