Analysis Of The Impact Of Kunming-Bangkok Road On Regional Trade Along The Road From The Perspective Of Interconnection And Interworking

In 2013,China proposed "The Belt and Road" initiative,emphasizing the importance of the interconnection and interworking of infrastructure,policy mechanism,cultural exchanges and other areas to promote the relayout of the global industrial chain and leapfrog development of regional economy.As a general starting point of "The Belt and Road" strategy,the issues of interconnection and interworking are wildly concerned.China's interconnection and interworking with neighboring countries is important in multiple ways:strengthening intercommunication with the surrounding areas can promote regional peace,stability and cooperation,and create a more stable environment for the peaceful development of China.In addition,strengthening the interconnection and interworking with the surrounding is also conducive to the parties to play their own advantages,to achieve the great development of their own economy and the overall prosperity of the regional economy.The Kunming-Bangkok Road is a transnational highway which has conected China,Laos and Tailand.It has reduced transport costs along the regional land,shorten transit time,opened up a new regional trade channel,has a profound impact on promoting the development of regional trade,is a typical representative which has an important significance among the constructions of interconnection and interworking.First of all,what is "connected" ? This paper will introduce the different definitions of interconnection and interworking among different countries or research institutions,analysis the concept of interconnection and interworking,introduce the theory of regional economic spatial structure,the theory of free trade and so on,analysis the impact of interconnetion an interworking on regional trade.Subsequently,introduce the Kunming-Bangkok Road as a typical representative among the constructions of interconnection and interworking.After full preparation,the paper will focus on the analysis of the impact of the Kunming-Bangkok Road on the regional trade.First,analysis the changes of the regional trade after the completion of Kunming-Bangkok Road from the three aspects of regional trade scale,trade structure,trade port scale,then make an empirical analysis of the impact of Kunming-Bangkok Road on the regional trade by the use of the new gravity model,estimates the potential of trade of Yunnan province and Thailand,Laos,explain the result.Next,the article will affirm the promotion the Kunming-Bangkok Road has made to the regional trade and summarizes the shortcomings that can be improved,and put forward some countermeasures and suggestions for the deficiencies still exist.Based on the analysis above,the paper draws some main conclusions:First,the gorwth of the total imports and exports between Yunnan province and Thailand,Laos,and the huge total exports and imports of the key port along the road all show that Kunming-Bangkok Road has played a positive role in promoting the development of trade along the region since the completion of Kunming Bangkok Road.Secondly,in the regression results of the new gravity model,the coefficient of the new explanatory variables which presents the impact of the Kunming-Bangkok Road on trade is 0.509,which shows that when the total imports and exports of Mohan increased 1%,the total trade between Yunnan Province and the two countries will increased 0.509%.empirical analysis results show that the Kunming Bangkok Road has obvious promotion effect on regional trade.Thirdly,estimating the potential of trade between Yunnan province and Thailand,Laos according to the new model of gravitational,the estimate values is close to 1,indicating that the current trade between the Yunnan province and Thailand,Laos trade is in the normal level,the realization of trade development along the road needs to seize the new opportunity and create new trade growth points.
