A Study On Acquirement For Panama Canal's Right Of Canalization In America

Panama is familiar to many people for the existence of canal.Since American Continent was discovered,Panama Canal's right of canalization was coveted by many countries in virtue of Panama Canal's strategic value which its geographical position contains,continuous attention or surveys from Europe and America and divergence between Colombia and Panama.Founded in 1776,America began to generate strong interest to Panama Canal,emphasized the importance of it in the 1820s,but then looked for opportunities to canalize in the 1830s with nothing.Through strategic adjustment in the early 1840s,America respectively signed treaties with Colombia and Britain,striving to secure the neutrality of Panama Canal for getting the right.However,the affair of canal followed trouble again,France got the opportunity to canalize.Regrouped in the late 1890s,America eliminated two obstacles from Britain and the domestic battle for canal route by French failure to completing canal project,plotted Panama's independence from Colombia,and finally got the right of canalization which it longed to in the early 20th century.America experienced a long process for the right,which just reflects the characteristics of weakening European influence and reinforcing intervention to Latin America in its foreign policy to Latin America.
