With the acceleration of the global economic integration and the upgrading of the global industrial structure,the service industry has gradually become the core of the modern economic development,and has become an important sign to measure the national competitiveness.Under the frame of CAFTA,the bilateral trade volume between China and ASEAN reached 514.8 billion dollars in 2017.China has become ASEAN’s largest trading partner,ASEAN has also become China’s third largest partner,the fourth largest export market and second major import source.However,when the commodity trade between China and ASEAN have been deepened and fully developed,the development of bilateral trade in services lags far behind the trade in goods.ASEAN,as China’s most important neighbor,has close ties with China in the areas of geoeconomy and national culture.It is necessary to attach importance to the development of trade in services if we want to gradually expand the international impact of CAFTA.China and ASEAN signed the Agreement on Trade in Services in 2007,and both sides pledged to open up relevant services,liberalize development of trade in services and strengthen bilateral cooperation,which marked the two sides’ expansion of cooperation from goods trade to service trade.At the same time,China and ASEAN have difference and complementarity in industry base,service trade scale and competitive advantage,which laid the cooperation foundation of bilateral service trade.Under the strategic policy background of “The Belt and Road",the cooperation of service trade between the two sides will be closer.It is of great practical significance to study how to exert the comparative advantage,enhance the competitiveness of service industry in the cooperation and competition,and deepen the cooperation in region.This paper chooses China and six representatives of ASEAN as research objects,collecting the import and export data of service trade in seven countries in 2002-2016 to analyze the status quo of service trade in different countries and summarize the characteristics of countries in terms of scale and structure.Then,select and use the Service trade Index to measure and compare the overall competitiveness of service trade and industry competitiveness of countries and the complementary degree of China and ASEAN countries service trade industry,through comparative analysis to find the competitiveness and complementarity of the bilateral service trade industry,the two sides will carry out complementary cooperation in the future service trade,Finally,it puts forward concrete suggestions and countermeasures to strengthen the cooperation in service trade between China and ASEAN.The conclusions of this paper are as follows: first,the economic development trend of China-ASEAN is considerable,and the competitiveness of service trade and market share of various countries have been improved.In addition to Singapore,which has the reasonable industrial structure,the service trade structure of other countries needs to be further optimized;Second,according to the measurement index of service trade,the competitiveness of trade in services between China and ASEAN countries is generally weaker,and there are some bilateral competition in the traditional service trade industry,such as tourism and construction,while in the high value-added service industry,they are more complementary to each other.Finally,the paper puts forward some suggestions to deepen the cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in service trade: Targeted to strengthen the support of trade services,increase support for technology-intensive services,and create high-end service industry brands;Improve educational investment,attach importance to human capital construction and establish a mechanism for free flow of talents;Establish and improve information exchange platform,actively provide market information,and timely capture business opportunities;Identify future areas of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
