Since Shell(China)Co.,Ltd.published China’s first sustainable development report in 1999,CSR disclosure in China has experienced a process of rapid development.From 2002 to 2013,there had been more than 40 regulations about CSR disclosure in China.In 2015,a total of 701 A-shares of listed companies published CSR reports,accounting for all A-shares of listed companies of 24%.CSR is voluntary disclosure for most Chinese enterprises.It’s meaningful and significant to explore the influencing factors of CSR disclosure,find the mechanism of how relevant regulations influencing voluntary CSR disclosure,and understand difference of enterprises,CSR performance.We examined the decision-making mechanism of enterprises about CSR disclosure by using qualitative comparative analysis(QCA)method.We analyzed the influence of regulations on the choice of the CSR disclosure to different enterprises in different market competition level.And we also studied how the different aspects of market competition affecting different enterprises’ CSR disclosure.We took A-shares of listed companies from 2005 to 2013 as samples.The results verified the following basic assumptions.First,CSR disclosure of Chinese enterprises is influenced by market competition and enterprise’s own characteristics in the guidance of government regulation.Second,the level of regulations,influence is different for enterprises with different characteristics and facing different market competition.Third,the impact of different aspects of regulation are different.Forth,the effects of different dimensions of market competition are different.Fifth,causes of disclosure and non-disclosure are asymmetric.On this basis,we further analyzed the causes group of CSR disclosure and non-disclosure.The results show that it is a complex decision-making process.In different institutional level and market competition environment,enterprises with different characteristics will exhibit different disclosure motivation and ability,and then make different disclosure decisions.
