Regional Effects Of Road Transport And Express Delivery Services In The Yangtze River Delta

Express service industry is a kind of productive complex,which serves as the basic strategic to support and boost economic development.Under the circumstances at home and aborad the online economy emerges and international financial crisis steadily spreads,developing express service industry becomes the vital means of boosting the industrial structure adjustment,changing the development mode and improving the competitive edge of national economy.Therefore,State Council enacted a series of documents which made an essential strategic design on the transformation and upgrading of express service industry.However,nowadays problems such as high cost and low efficiency exist in express service industry,and it has become one of issues that government and academic entity pay attention to.As the highest level of economic development in the eastern coast of China,the transportation mode of express service industry in the Yangtze River Delta Area is mainly by highway transportation.So the efficiency of highway transportation is related to the time limitation of express service industry.In this context,this paper objectively evaluated the highway transportation efficiency of 26 cities in the Yangtze River Delta Area,and then study the correlation between the indexes and the express service industry.So A profound understanding of the present situation of highway transportation efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta Area can be got,and some suggestions can be provided to improve the highway transportation efficiency of the Yangtze River Delta Area and to improve the time of express service in the Yangtze River Delta Area.This paper is contered on efficiency evaluation,grasping the inducing demand traits of road closely and analyzing the current situation of the Yangtze River Delta Area from three dimensions of market position,supply characteristics and demond traits.What's more,it employed input directed SBM-DEA model to measure the road transportation efficiency in Yangtze River Delta Area from 2011-2015,and studied the varying traits,regional characteristics and driving factors in details.Furthermore,it used gray correlation model to calculate the relationship between road transportation efficiency and the number of express outlets,express service volume and express service income in the Yangtze River Delta Area.And then to discuss the relationship between the transportation industry and the express service industry in the Yangtze River Delta Area.This paper implied that:(1)The overall road transportation efficiency in the Yangtze River Delta between 2011-2015 is high.The pure technical efficiency in the 26 cities of the Yangtze River Delta Area in 2015 is slightly higher than the scale efficiency,which means that the organization or enterprise changes the input factor to the optimal scale is restricted.(2)There are certain differences in the road transportation efficiency between cities in the Yangtze River Delta Area.Taking the provincial administrative units as an example,the input-output rate and management of the transportation system in Shanghai have some advantages compared with other provinces.The low scale efficiency is the main reason that affects the comprehensive efficiency of Zhejiang province.(3)The relationship between the transport efficiency and the number of express outlets,express service and express business income of the Yangtze River Delta Area is at a higher level.The progress of transportation technology and the progress of infrastructure projects increase the network scope of transportation.At the same time,the express enterprise can provide higher level of service and get a larger network coverage.(4)The correlation between road transportation and express service are different in different cities in Yangtze River Delta Area.It also shows some spatial agglomeration.The spatial agglomeration has some regional effects,such as the neighborhood effect,division effect,structure effect and depression effect of regional economic development.Further more,Cities like Shanghai and Hangzhou has a lower correlation between road transportation and express service,while cities like Jinhua,Shaoxing,Yancheng has a higher correlation.
