A Study On Efficiency And Determinants Of China's Electromechanical Products Export Based On Stochastic Frontier Model

Since 1995,electromechanical products have become China's largest export commodities.Since 2004,electromechanical products have occupied more than 50% of the total exports of goods.Electromechanical products accounted for an important position in China's foreign trade and have made a lot of contribution to a large number of foreign exchange earnings,the smooth operation of China's national economy,foreign trade development and international balance of payments.Although the export volume of China's electromechanical products is increasing,the growth rate is gradually slowing down.The export growth rate of electromechanical products is 31.61% in 2005 and 3.26% in 2014,and the support of electromechanical products export to China's economic development gradually declines.Given the poor outlook for exports of electromechanical products,carrying out research on the export efficiency of China's electromechanical products to continue to tap the export potential of China's electromechanical products and ensure the steady development of China's foreign trade has important practical significance.This paper tries to study the export of Chinese electromechanical products from the perspective of export efficiency and its influencing factors,hoping to provide reference for China's export of electromechanical products.This paper combines the traditional gravitational model with the stochastic frontier model using the combination method of qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,adopting the stochastic frontier model to estimate the export efficiency of Chinese electromechanical products.By referring to the research achievements of the predecessors and combining the characteristics of electromechanical products,this paper selected regional trade agreements,APEC,tariff levels,technical barriers to trade and the degree of institutional construction as the factors to electromechanical products export efficiency.The paper consists of six parts.The first part expatiates on the significance of research background,related literature review,the framework of the paper,research methods;the second part summarizes the theoretical connotation of the export efficiency,regional economic integration theory,tariff theory,institutional theory and technical barriers to trade;the third part summarizes China's export volume,growth rate of electromechanical products,market distribution,commodity structure and trade patterns;the fourth part builds a random frontier model of China's export of electromechanical products and measures the efficiency of China's electromechanical productsexports;the fifth part analyzes the influencing factors of the export efficiency of China's electromechanical products on the basis of the former,and measures the influence of each factor;the sixth part puts forward some suggestions to improve the export efficiency of electromechanical products according to the problems of China's electromechanical products export and five export efficiency factors.The results show that the average export efficiency of China's electromechanical products is 0.35 in 2014,the area with highest export efficiency is North America,followed by South America,Asia and Africa.The area with lowest export efficiency is Europe.Regional trade agreements,the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and the degree of institutional construction can improve the export efficiency of China's electromechanical products.The technical barriers to trade have a strong negative impact on export efficiency of China's electromechanical products.Tariff levels play a negative role as well.We proposed the following suggestions by analyzing the conclusions: firstly,the government should actively participate in the regional trade agreement to reduces the tariff barrier;secondly,the government,the enterprise and the trade association should deal with the TBT jointly;thirdly,the government should enhance the system quality,reduces the system distance.
