China's economy has entered a period of new normal, and he popularity of the Internet, the development of technology, and other factors led enterprises in a more competitive dynamics environment.Faced the high uncertainty and fast-changing competitive environment, how does the top management team(TMT)focus on the changes in the external environment by deploying limited attention resources to help companies make appropriate competitive decisions and promote their performance growth? With the existing commodity market has become increasingly saturated, the competition among enterprises is more intense. The development of information technology makes the scope, the way and the complexity of competition between companies has changed a lot than before. What is the effect of TMT inherent cognitive characteristics on the competitive behavior among firms in the fierce competition? Our research is based on the dynamic competition theory perspective, and the corporate competitive behavior is the main research object,to explore the Influence of the attention configuration during TMT cognitive process on competitive behavior of enterprises. The existing dynamic competition research has paid attention to the influence of TMT management cognition on competitive behavior, but the research on TMT cognitive process to enterprise competition behavior is still lacking. In addition, since the high-level echelon theory has proposed,it is favored by many scholars. However,it is also facing the ‘demographic background black box' problem.Opening the black box and focusing on the psychological factors of the senior management echelon background characteristics are the future research directions.Taking the enterprise competitive behavior as the research object, this paper will construct the concept of ‘cognitive extraversion-competitive behavior-performance',which aims at exploring the influence of the attention configuration during TMT cognitive process on the competitive behavior of enterprises. On the basis of literature review, this paper puts forward the conceptual model of ‘cognitive extraversion-competitive behavior-performance'.By using content analysis, collecting second-hand data and other methods to collect data, the conceptual model is validated and analyzed. The research shows,(1)the TMT cognitive extroversion and corporate performance have a significant positive impact;(2)TMT cognitive extroversion and competitive behavior(range/concentration/dominance)have a significant impact;(3)Competitive behavior(range/concentration/dominance)plays a mediating role in the relationship between TMT cognitive extroversion and firm performance;(4)Environmental dynamics has a negative effect on competitive behavior(concentration/dominance)and corporate performance. In the theoretical contribution, this study explores the influence of TMT cognitive process on the competition behavior of enterprises, enriches the research on management cognition and enterprise dynamic competition, opens up the "demographic background black box" of high echelon theory also. The study notes that TMT closely following the changes of the external environment in the decision-making process,is conducive to its identification of market opportunities, acquire new knowledge, which help enterprises make better competitive behavior in the competitive interaction. In addition,a stable environment will aggravate the negative impact of the competitive repertoires simplification corporate performance. In practice,The study suggests that TMT should pay more attention to the external environment in a dynamic competitive environment.Besides,in a low dynamic environment, top management should be cautious about the impact of the competitive repertoires simplification on corporate performance.
