Assessment And Prevention Of MSD Risk In Automobile Manufacturing

Pipeline operation is typical in automobile manufacturing.It's fast?standardized and high repetition.As more and more mechanized or semi-mechanized equipment being used in production,automation is continuously improved.There're still many operations,such as cargo handling,assembly work,material delivery etc.relying on artificial done.The line workers are required to complete the same operations hundreds of times per day.Long repeated work,even improper operations may cause Musculoskeletal Disorder(hereinafter referred to MSD).Muscle strain?painful swelling fingers and defunctionalization are symptoms.MSD may lead to activity restricted and low production efficiency.Based on the theory of ergonomics and relevant knowledge,this paper studies the identification,evaluation and control of MSD risk in a certain automobile manufacturer.The main points include:(1)Take a grasp of the situation of MSD,common types and causes of MSD in automobile manufacturing,through the clinic data,sampling survey,job observation and workers interviews,etc.So that lay the foundation of scientific and reasonable intervention for MSD.(2)Learning from certain foreign assessment theories of MSD risk such as RULA,REBA,OWAS,NIOSH Guidelines of USA etc.,analyzes the merits and drawbacks and limitations of these tools,and puts forward the basic ideas of MSD risk assessment in automobile manufacturing.(3)Study on the characteristics of MSD and base on the principle of “ensure recovery time,prevent fatigue ",referring to foreign assessment tools of MSD,combined with actual production practices and experience,conducts a set of risk identification,classification and assessment methods for MSD,which is easy to apply to automobile manufacturing industry.And they turn out to be effective in the workshop.(4)Make full implementation of the identification and risk assessment of MSD in workshop,and put forward essential improvement and taking prevention and control measures to the identified risk of MSD,such as improvement of heavy load operations,physical test and rational allocation of posts,weakness exercises,physical condition certification before start up,rotation work etc..The incidence of MSD is significantly decreased as measures are taken in production.The research result of this paper may be good reference for other enterprises to make risk assessment of MSD and take prevention and control measures.
