In this paper, I take the compensation mental account as the starting point to explore the effect of mental accounts on the employees' cognition of compensation and their work behavior. This research consists of two parts. The first part is about the structure of mental account and another part is about the incentive effect of compensation mental account. In the first research, I comply the questionnaire on 516 employees. After the data collection, I carry on the exploratory factor analysis and indicate the structure of the mental account through the way of principal component. In the second research, according to the two-factor structure of the compensation psychological account, I conduct the scenario experiment research on 193 employees and analyze the different incentive effects of the two compensation mental accounts in different amount of expected income and different working situations.I get the following results:1. The compensation mental account of employees consists of two factors;2. The incentive effect of compensation mental account's two factors is significant;3. The main effect of the expected amount of income is significant, but the main effect of the task difficulty is not significant;4. There is a interaction effect between the compensation mental account and the expected amount. When the expected amount is small, the main effect of the incentive effect of compensation mental account's two factors is not significant. But when the reward amount is large, the main effect is significant.I have reached the following conclusions:1. The compensation mental account is composed of hygiene account and incentive account.2. The incentive effect of the incentive account is greater than the hygiene account.3. The difficulty of the task will not affect the compensation mental account, but the expected amount of income will significantly affect the incentive effect.4. When the expected amount of income is small, the incentive effect between the hygiene account and the incentive account is the same. When the expected amount of income is large, the incentive effect of the incentive account is significantly better.
