Logistics industry is an important part of manufacture-related services industry, which is of great significance to our country's social and economic development. However, due to its extensive development of high investment, high emission and low output, logistics industry has become one of our country's biggest energy hogs and ranked only second to industry.Under the background of low carbon economy initiated by various countries,it is high time to increase energy efficiency to improve international competitive power of our country's logistics industry.Logistics industry has advanced with the development of global economic integration and the deepen of international division of work,so greater competition of foreign trade can put forward higher demand to logistics industry.Since reforming and opening, our country has witnessed high development of foreign trade and finally entrenched a position of'big trade country' and 'world factory'.Foreign trade has become an important factor that affects our country's social and economic development.Based on an open perspective, the effect of foreign trade on logistics industry is the purpose of research, which is of great significance to our country's carbon emission reduction policy.Firstly,Data Envelopment Analysis is used to calculate logistics industry's energy efficiency of 30 provinces in China from 2003 to 2014.Compared to the statistical analysis of our country's foreign trade, some evidences are found:both logistics industry's energy efficiency and foreign trade have similar regional differences and time switch point.Secondly, based on theoretical analysis,a panel data model is established to study the effect of foreign trade on logistics industry in terms of overall foreign trade and then study respectively from region structure, mode structure and main body structure. Some evidences are found:both export trade and import trade can increase logistics industry's energy efficiency, where the effect of import trade is greater and more significant;the positive effect of export trade and import trade is decreasing from eastern region to western region and finally turns to negative effect;processing export trade and processing import trade can both increase logistics industry's energy efficiency significantly and the effect is greater than what normal export trade and normal import trade have;naive enterprises' export trade decreases logistics industry's energy efficiency to some point while foreign-owned enterprises' export trade increases logistics industry's energy efficiency significantly, but the positive effect of naive enterprises' import trade on logistics industry's energy efficiency is greater.Thirdly, some input-out methods, including foreign trade induced coefficients and calculation of industries relationship, are used to study the reason why there are differences between the effect of export trade and import trade. Some evidences are found:on one hand, the effect of export trade on logistics industry is greater and there are more high energy-consumption industries that are highly related to logistics industry in terms of export trade, which means the logistics industry's demand generated by export trade can still test on traditional mode of store and transport. On the other hand, logistics outsourcing rate is lower in terms of export trade, which can hinder logistics industry's effective demand from being generated and thus decrease logistics industry's energy efficiency. Finally, based on empirical results, suggestions are put forward in order to increase logistics industry's energy efficiency.
