Strategic emerging industries is a starting point for the development of the new economic growth momentum,which is very important.As its support,strategic emerging minerals play a very important role in the process of seizing the commanding heights of the economy in all countries.The short-term and long-term availability,quality and adequacy of these resources have become a perennial concern of every country.Indium is widely used in strategic emerging industries,with the rapid growth of demand,the demand for indium will continue to grow,and the safety of indium mine resources in China may face certain risks in the future.At the same time,the safety evaluation of indium,as an associated mineral,is different from major minerals,Therefore,according to the characteristics of indium resource itself to establish a safety evaluation index system and accordingly to make indium resource safety evaluation of China,which has certain theoretical and practical significance to ensure the sustained and healthy development of industry and the country.The results and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Collect and analyze historical data about the reserves,production,consumption,price and trade of indium resources in China as well as in the world.Among them,China reserves is 8000 tons,accounting for 74% of the world’s 11000 tons;China’s primary indium production in recent years accounted for more than 40% of the world;The world’s major consumer and trading countries,including Japan,South Korea,the United States and China,Japan is the largest consumer,accounting for 50% of the world,but China’s consumption level is relatively low which accounted for only about 5% of the world;In terms of price,there are 8 stages of fluctuation,which influenced by some special events and supply and demand change.(2)Using the method of department analysis,we make a short-term prediction of indium consumption in China.The prediction results show that in the future,indium consumption in China will focus on two areas: ITO targets manufacturing and solar thin-film photovoltaic cell(CIGS).By 2020,China indium consumption is expected to reach 275 tons in the field of ITO targets manufacturing,while in the solar cell field,indium consumption is expected to reach 17-20 tons,and the total consumption of indium is expected to reach 317-320 tons.(3)Established a short-term safety evaluation index system of indium ore resources,which contains 8 indicators,accounted for the global share of resources,reserve-production ratio of resource,associated resources proportion,area concentration of production,recycling rate of waste products,substitution,demand growth and the world share of consumption.(4)According to the established safety evaluation index system and the formula of safety degree calculation,the safety level of indium mine resources in 2013 and 2014 was calculated,the results showed that the grades were basically safe in 2013 and 2014,but the safety score exhibited a downward trend.(5)On the basis of safety results,we analyze and describe the specific scoring of indexes in the index system,and in view of the existing problems some suggestions are put forward from different aspects,which include situation,resource status,industry development direction,key development links,reserve mechanism and environment and so on.
