Cross-strait Industrial Cooperation Room For Improvement

Since the Reform and Opening in mainland China in 1978,cross-strait economic and trade has developed rapidly,and industrial cooperation has been carried out in full swing.The the rapid growth of cross-strait trade volume and Taiwan's investment in the mainland over the past 20 years,on one hand,have provided a strong impetus for cross-strait economic development,on the other hand,have made cross-strait economy become an important part of East Asian production network.One of the main driving forces for the rapid development of cross-strait economic and trade is that cross-strait industrial cooperation conforms to the development of East Asian production network,and the development of industrial cooperation between mainland and Taiwan has profoundly affected and even changed the pattern of East Asian production network.Therefore,it is of great significance to analyze the cross-strait industrial cooperation from the perspective of the cross-strait position in the East Asian production network value chain,and it will help to analyze the room for the cross-strait of the industrial cooperation.This paper first analyzes the history and characteristics of cross-strait industrial cooperation development and the relationship between the cross-strait and the East Asian production network from the perspective of cross-strait trade and investment,combs the industries with the most intensive trade and investment,to provide the baisis for seletct typical industry in the following analysis.The article then introduces the GVC position index model,and analyzes the GVC position and participation rate of the cross-strait in East Asia production network according to the results of data calculatio.According to the analysis results,it can be found that the position of mainland and Taiwan in the East Asian production network are low,especially Taiwan,because Taiwan's exports always contain large foreign value-added,that is,Taiwan's backward participation rate is higher than the forward participation rate.Then the article analyzes the position of cross-strait GVC by three levels of industry and typical industry,so that we can analyze the industrial cooperation room.The analysis shows that the industry cooperation of many industries on both sides of the strait has encountered bottlenecks and needs to seek new development mode and development direction.Finally,according to the previous analysis the article gets the conclusion,and gives cross-strait industrial cooperation policy recommendations.The innovation of this paper lies in the analysis of cross-strait industrial cooperation from the perspective of East Asian production network and global value chain and useing WIOD data and GVC position index model to calculate the position of cross-strait overall and various industries in East Asia production network value chain,then combined with investment,trade and output data to analyze industrial cooperation room.
