Study On The Sustainable Use Of Geological Heritage Resources In Yunnan Province

The investigation and evaluation work into geological heritage resources is a prerequisite and crucial issue for the reasonable planning and construction of geological parks.The exploitation and protection for geological parks must be established on the basis of government predominance as well as cooperative participation of experts owing to various kinds of geological relics,strong professionalism,large investment intensity and long development cycle.Therefore,constructing an integrated assessment model for geological heritages consisting of multi-factors will be of important theoretical significance and practical value in the future sustainable development of geological heritages.In Yunnan province,there are various types of geological heritage resources that are widely distributed.In Yunnan,a good deal of effort have been put into the declaration and construction of national geological parks with many researches on the investigation and evaluation of geological heritages as well,having laid a favorable foundation for developing geological heritage resources in Yunnan province as tourist resources.On the other hand,there are fewer geological parks in Yunnan province,compared to abundant geological resources.Moreover,a great many non-renewable geological heritage resources are dying out or being damaged with a hunger for improvement and protection.In the paper,analysises have been conducted on types,characteristics,regularities of distribution and causes of distribution of geological heritage resources in Yunnan province with investigations on some tourist geological heritage resources involved.Based on the Theory of Ecological footprint,comparative analysises have been carried out on the development intensity and effect of three geological parks in Yunnan.In the end,sustainable development countermeasures have been proposed for the protection status and existing problems in geological heritage resources of Yunnan province.Based on the researches above,following conclusions have been drawn:(1)By comprehensively summarizing the geological heritage resources in Yunnan province,it has been found that there are 351 geological heritage landscapes in total among major tourist geological heritage resources including 80 in central Yunnan,34 in western Yunnan,103 in northwest Yunnan,61 in southwest Yunnan,38 in northeast Yunnan and 35 in southeast Yunnan which are well-distributed with an uneven utilization intensity yet.(2)Geological heritage resources in central and eastern Yunnan have been highly developed to the greatest extent with high ornamental values and perfect supporting services;Geological heritage resources in western and northwest Yunnan have been moderately developed with high ornamental values and leisure & recreation values.However,traffic and other supporting services,which are imperfect;Geological heritage resources in southern Yunnan have been developed with the minimum intensity.(3)Sustainable development countermeasures for geological heritage resources have been put forward from multiple angles including establishing a management framework for capitalization of geological heritages to manage geological heritage resources as national assets,strengthening the supervision of the provincial government on protection funds of geological heritage resources,enhancing the propaganda and supervision on the protection for geological heritage resources led by local governments as well as maintaining the state of sustainable development for geological heritage resources by adopting resource integration and upgrading strategies.Different protection measures have been proposed for diverse geological heritage resources.
