Disparity Analysis Of Regional Economic In The Economic Zone On The West Coast Of Taiwan Straits Based On Spatial Heterogeneity

The strategic conception of the Economic Zone on the West Coast of Taiwan Straits(hereinafter called EZWCTS for short)was formally put forward in 2004,and the State Council issued "Some Opinions on Supporting Fujian Province to Speed up the Construction of the EZWCTS" in 2009.It showed that the development of the EZWCTS had been formally raised from the local strategy to the national strategy.Many scholars have carried out a series of research on the economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between the two sides of the Strait,the industrial layout,the urban agglomeration,the function and so on.However,there are few studies about the regional economic disparity in the EZWCTS,especially the study based on spatial heterogeneity.Based on the two dimensions of time and space,the spatial and temporal evolution mechanism of regional economic disparity are studied in the EZWCTS from 2001 to 2015.And this paper puts forward relevant suggestions,in order to provide a theoretical basis to narrow the regional economic disparity and promote the coordinated development of regional economy of the EZWCTS.The main contents and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)By using the method of measuring regional economic disparity,the general trend of regional economic disparity is revealed in the EZWCTS and the origin and composition of the regional economic disparity are explored.The results show that the standard deviation and range increase with 5.94%and 4.06%of the average annual growth rate,respectively,but the Gini coefficient and Theil coefficient decline with 3.58%and 8.21%of the average annual reduction rate,respectively.The implementation of EZWCTS narrows the regional economic disparities.The economic disparity among the three major regions and intra regional economic disparity are shrinking.The average contribution rate of the Theil coefficient of the intra regional economic disparity is 74.52%,which indicates that the intra regional economic disparity is the main source of the regional economic disparity in the EZWCTS.The regional economic disparity in the eastern coastal area is decreasing,and the disparity of the regional economy in the central inland region is increasing.The disparity of the regional economy in the western radiating region is rising.The average contribution rate of the Theil coefficient in the eastern coastal area is 44.98%,which indicates that the regional economic disparity in the eastern coastal area is the main source of the intra regional economic disparity.Therefore,we should narrow the disparity in the internal region economy,especially the economic disparity in the eastern coastal area as a starting point,in order to narrow the overall regional economic disparity.(2)Regional economic evaluation model is used to evaluate evolution of the spatial heterogeneity of regional economic development level in the EZWCTS.The coefficient of variation of the comprehensive index of the level of regional economic development in the 4 years are 47.66%,55.12%,43.59%and 35.53%,respectively.It indicates that the overall trend of spatial disparity of regional economic development in the EZWCTS is decreasing,although there is fluctuation.And it shows the spatial distribution that the spatial disparity of regional economic development is decreasing constantly from the eastern coast to the western inland,with obvious spatial heterogeneity.The spatial heterogeneity pattern of regional economy in the EZWCTS has obvious spatial characteristics.Economically developed area all locates in the eastern coastal area.Relatively developed economy area distributes mainly in the central and northern inland.Relatively impoverished economy area distributes mainly in northern and southern coastal areas.Impoverished economy area mainly distributes in the western inland region.In addition,after the EZWCTS was put forward,the spatial heterogeneity is very small.After the support given by the state,improvement of the overall regional economic level in Fujian Province made the spatial heterogeneity pattern changed greatly.(3)Exploratory spatial data analysis method is used to explore the spatial pattern and distribution law in the EZWCTS,and further to explore the spatial heterogeneity of its regional economy.The results of the global spatial autocorrelation show that the regional economy of the EZWCTS has obvious spatial agglomeration characteristics.The global spatial autocorrelation coefficient tends to increase with time,and the cluster trend of similarity between regions(HH or LL)tends to increase.The results of local spatial autocorrelation show that the average value of the HH pattern and LL pattern in 4 years is 78%.The polarization of the EZWCTS is prominent,and the local spatial heterogeneity is mainly reflected by the two distinct spatial differentiation of HH pattern and LL pattern.The spatial dependence is more obvious than the spatial heterogeneity,and the spatial heterogeneity has a decreasing trend.The regional economy of the EZWCTS presents a more obvious spatial heterogeneity pattern in the East and the West,and the spatial correlation pattern of regional economy in the EZWCTS has some distribution rules.HH pattern area mainly concentrates in the eastern coastal areas of Fujian.It extends to the north and central inland,and its number tends to increase.LH pattern area mainly distributes in the coastal areas of Fujian,and the number tends to decrease.The LL pattern area mainly distributes in the western and southern regions,and its number is more than 1/3.The spatial distribution of HL pattern regions is fragmented.(4)Based on the 5 aspects of development foundation,government regulation,industrial structure,capital investment and consumption level,this paper analyzes the influencing factors of regional economic disparity in the EZWCTS.The Spatial Heterogeneity of Influencing Factors of the regional economic disparity in the EZWCTS is analyzed by using the method of geographically weighted regression model.The results show that per capita fixed assets investment and per capita total retail sales of social consumer goods have a significant effect on the regional economy of the EZWCTS,and there are spatial heterogeneity.The goodness of fit of OLS regression model in 4 years is 0.9658,0.9640,0.7713 and 0.7544,respectively.The goodness of fit of GWR model is 0.9834,0.9687,0.7932 and 0.7545,respectively.It shows that the geographical weighted regression model is better than the ordinary least squares regression model to explain the regional economic disparity in the EZWCTS.This paper further analyzes the spatial heterogeneity of the 2 factors,and puts forward some suggestions from the aspects of increasing capital investment and raising the level of consumption in order to promote the coordinated development of regional economy in the EZWCTS.
