As a quantitative evaluation method of sustainable development,ecological footprint analysis(EFA)is the frontier issue of sustainable development.Human production activities will inevitably produce numerous consumption,including the occupation of natural resources and producing of some waste,resulting in impact on the ecological environment,as if a foot standing on the earth,leaving footprints.For another thing,the ecological environment itself also provide a certain carrying capacity,for the supply of human material expense.The theory of ecological footprint is to quantificationally transform human material expense into biologically productive land area and to prepare it with biologically productive land area provided by the survey region,thereby we can evaluate the sustainable development ability in the region.The EFA as a burgeoning evaluation method for sustainability,currently used for regional sustainability evaluation usually.With the continuous improvement and development of ecological footprint theory,some scholars gradually apply it to evaluate construction project,which lay the basis for the harmony between the project construction and ecological environment.Based on the analysis of theecological footprint theory,this paper try to apply ecological footprint method to the sustainability assessment of a public construction project.The traditional ecological footprint theory has limitations,so this paper introduce emergy theory into the evaluation model of ecological footprint,so that the two methods are complementary to each other.The concept of emergy is the amount of a kind of energy contained in another energy.All the substance has energy,but the energy of the different nature can not be compared directly.The energy sources on the earth are solar energy,so they can be transformed into the solar energy values for comparison.This paper analogize public project and ecological system,and conclude that material flow in life cycle is energy flow in essence according to energy flow in ecological system,We compare resources invested into public project with output of economic and social benefit after conversing into solar emergy,so that we can calculate how long the output can compensate for occupancy during the construction and operation period of the project.Then compare with operation time,we can determine the project sustainability,so as to provide some reference significance for the sustainability of construction project.Firstly I did a lot of reading and learning to literature in related fields,and master the basic knowledge of theory.Then I constructed the ecological footprint evaluation model of the public project and evaluate the case with the model.Finally I put forward some suggestions according to the results.Each part of the paper are arranged as follows:In the first part of the paper,I reviewed public construction projects sustainable development research and ecological footprint theoretical research based on the study of relevant literature,then described the research content,method,innovation and deficiencies of this paper.The second part of the paper in detail discussed the public project,ecological footprint theory,energy value theory,sustainable development and other related theories,which laid a theoretical foundation for the following analysis.The third part is the key part of this paper,on the basis of the relevant theoretical research,building emergy-ecological footprint model,including the applicability of the analysis,principle and calculation of the model,and introduced calculation index of the model.In the fourth part ? took the Dalian Sports Center Stadium as an example,and made empirical analysis for the model proposed in this paper.I calculated the ecological footprint and ecological carrying capacity and ecological benefit index,so as to make sustainability assessment of the project,and then come to the conclusion.In the fifth part I put forward the suggestion of improving the sustainability of public project and the last part is the conclusion and prospect of this paper.After analysis expound,the following conclusions:(1)As far as the analysis method,sustainability of the project sustainability analysis differs from the analysis region,the latter to carry the study population,the former project itself as the object of study,not only ecological footprint and biocapacity are compared,but also to calculate how long the project is the ecological deficit,and whether or not can economic and social benefit in period of operation remedy ecological cost for constructing and operating the project.(2)Dalian Sports Center Stadium in the whole project life cycle is sustainable,less than its ecological footprint ecological carrying capacity,22 years ecological profitablea,and the project has great social benefits,so certainly feasibility of the project;(3)on the basis of text analysis,from two directions to reduce energy consumption and improve the economic and social benefits conming up with proposing to increase the sustainability of the project.
