Nowadays, with furious competition of globalized business market, as well as facing the problem on economy growth both domestically and globally, which makes the manufacturers of Explosion proof electrical apparatus to improve their technical service level on ETO(Engineering to Order) fast response to satisfy customized design demands from the clients. Since from the end of 20th century, the companies which started the strategy of providing customized solution and manufacturing could benefit from it and provide high quality products with quick ETO designed products to the customers. Many companies are trying to looking for innovative ways to win in the furious competitive market. And quick response on ETO design to the customer is one of them.ETO solution is to design products or integrate total system based on customer's specific requirements which are quite different from projects. And sometimes the company even invites the customer to involve into the design together. Generally, the customer is not familiar with interior structure/functionality/quality control of the products. It is really important for the company whether or not be able to response quickly. In short, it is time to improve ETO design response timing.This paper is based on CH company which is focused on ETO design &manufacturing of explosion proof electrical apparatus. The main contents are as folio wings:Chapter 2&3 introduce the concept of ETO design, working process, working properties during each processes and on-time delivery. In the meantime, list out the problems which the company is facing regarding ETO design&manufacturing business. Firstly, the win-rate for bidding project is low currently. Secondly, huge loss due to the products failed to delivery on time. Finally, when the customer has urgent request on design and product delivery, the company can't take it due to the product can't be produced on request.Chapter 4 analyzes the listed problems. Firstly, to use fishbone diagrams to analyze the factors which influence whether to win the bidding projects. Find out the factors and possible interactive affection among them. Secondly, to analyze the past three year's project data. Find out how to influence the winning of project and the proportion of each factor. Finally, to use VSM (Value stream mapping) to find out the specific points which we need to improve in the near future.Chapter 5 finds the actions to improve on the above-mentioned problems. Firstly, started from the module design concept for the sub-assembly parts, As well as in the design software. This could help to enhance ETO design efficiency and reduce the design mistakes by hand. Secondly, bring quick cost estimation and quick response on the quotation. In the meantime, learn from US headquarter and German factory to have try on internet based quotation platform which can guide distributors even customers to configure by themselves after pre-setting cross logical functions. And the platform could have data communication with SAP system. Finally, to improve by the actions on material stock setting to satisfy the customers on delivery.As the manufacturer, design and manufacturing period are important for quick response and on-time delivery. The company need to analyze the specific details clearly during design process and how to affect the lead time of design. To adjust and find out actions to solve the happening problems. Then the company is able to arrange the production plan, to improve the product quality, to control the project progress and make sure on-time delivery.
