Research Of Pickup And Delivery Pattern Based On Intermediate Depot Of Suda City Express

With the steady development of the express industry, the mode and type of express services become more and more diversified. And the city express business has developed rapidly and become an important part of the major express companies' business. In response to customers' urgent requirement of high-speed in city express transport, the courier company has to increase investment in pickup and delivery. Suda express company chooses the traditional transit field pattern to operate the city express business, which is able to meet the time requirements. While the operating costs is high. It's difficult to get effective balance between time and costs. To solve this problem, the Suda express company proposes a "intermediate depot" pattern to pickup and delivery express. Accompanying with the use of this pattern, they hope to optimize the city express network on the basis of meeting the time constraints and to achieve the goal of saving costs.This paper combines with the hub-and-spoke transportation network to study the choice of intermediate depots. Based on the characteristics of the new pattern, a multi-distribution hub-and-spoke network model is designed, and proposes an appropriate tabu search algorithm to solve the model, to determine the number and locations of intermediate depots. Combined with actual operating data, calculating time and costs date under this new pattern, which is compared with the time and costs data under existing pattern. At last, we draw the feasibility conclusions that the intermediate depots pattern can be used to improve the city express transportation network. Through the research on this problem, we not only provide reference for the Suda express company, but also the entire express industry in the pickup and delivery pattern and improve the transportation networks in city express.
