Technically speaking, urban rail transit refers to an urban public passenger transportation system which adopts special and dedicated rail and employs the orientedoperation method. The recent years, in China, have witnessed the rapid economic and social development and accelerated advancing process of urbanization, in particular, urban rail transit construction has stepped into a high-speed developing period. Every coin has two sides, on one hand, the construction of urban rail transit infrastructure makes full use of municipal functions and plays a substantially important role in alleviating urban traffic congestion and facilitating social and economic development of cities. However, on the other hand, there exits some problembs such as the excessively rushing and aimless investments in rail transit, lack of enough scientific rigor in network planning. All of these will not only solve the problem of traffic congestion, but also have led to extreme financial burdens for governments and heavy loss of operation which furthermore imposes negative impact on urban sustainable development.Through clustering analysis, impact factor analysis and regression analysis, and taking 19 cities as research sample which have existed rail transit lines in 2013, this paper attempts to structure a coordination model which is about the interactive relation between urban rail transit construction and social and economic development.Firstly, this essay has made a basic introduction about the construction of the domestic urban rail transit. Subsequently a clustering analysis has been made about the construction scale of urban rail transit. Meanwhile from the three perspectives of social development, economic development and infrastructure construction, some insights have been dug into about the impact factors of rail transit construction scale by factorial analysis. Furthermore, based on regression analysis, a coordination model has been structured which is about the interactive relation between urban rail transit construction and social and economic development. Finally, we exercise empirical analysist and calculates the balanced or proper distance of every city's rail transit construction. Afterwards, with the comparison of the proper distance and the real distance, it puts forward a new concept which is so-called urban rail transit construction temperature. After this, according to this new concept, the cities are classified as five different types which are 1. lagged construction. 2.moderate lagged construction. 3. Coordinated construction. 4.moderate ahead construction. 5. ahead construction. Based on all the analysis and results above, it finds that we should make a proper plan of urban rail transit network and make the urban rail transit construction orderly and in line with the real condition of every city. Meanwhile we should make sure the construction scale in adapted with social and economic development level.
