Research On International Competitiveness Of Shanghai Free Trade Zone

The thesis firstly discussed the concept and research methods of international competitiveness and figured out that international competitiveness should belong to regional competitiveness.Then,through the study of the FTZ's concept,the thesis pointed out that Shanghai Free Trade Zone is the free trade zone not the free trade area.By studying the research results of international competitiveness' evaluation system,the thesis chose the Michael Porter Diamond Model as the theoretical basis.In the second part,the thesis introduced the development situation of Shanghai Free Trade Zone which included the construction achievement,the openness,the construction of infrastructure and the administrative efficiency.In summary,Shanghai Free Trade Zone has made great progress in each aspect during the two years.According to the research results,the thesis studied the status of Shanghai Free Trade Zone's international competitiveness by comparing it to major free trade zones in East Asia,such as Hongkong Free Trade Zone,Singapore Free Trade Zone and Busan Free Trade Zone through factor analysis method.Based on a large number of domestic and foreign research results and the experience of major free trade zones in East Asia,the thesis constructed international competitiveness' evaluation system of free trade zone.The evaluation system consists of four primary indexes which are the economic foundation,the openness,the administrative environment and the construction of infrastructure.Under the four primary indexes,there are 12 secondary indexes and 21 tertiary indexes.According to the research results,the thesis ranked the international competitiveness of the free trade zones.Then the thesis made a concrete analysis of factors that have an important influence on the free trade zone's international competitiveness.The empirical result shows that Shanghai Free Trade Zone is rather competitive.Considering the international environment,such as the failure of Doha negotiation,the agreement of TPP negotiation and the development of TTIP negotiation,and the developing experience of the Hongkong Free Trade Zone,Singapore Free Trade Zone and Busan Free Trade Zone,the thesis made targeted recommendations to the construction of Shanghai Free Trade Zone.The construction should cover three major parts,which are improving the openness,ameliorating the administrative environment and optimizing the human resources.Shanghai Free Trade Zone should learn the successful experience of the major free trade zones in East Asia and take advantage its strength.What's more,the reform of Shanghai Free Trade Zone has to comply with the new international trade environment and grasp the dominant position in formulating international trade rules.
