| With the further deepening and development of globalization,the new international division of labor-the Global Value Chain division came into being.China's active participation in international division of labor,and gradually developed into a manufacturing country.However,compared with the world advanced level,China's manufacturing industry is still big but not strong.The degree of participation in global manufacturing value chain has been strengthened,but it is low in the global value chain in which the position,relying on natural resources and cheap labor advantage in the global value chain division,received low value-added,profit less,and is not conducive to the sustainable development of the manufacturing.But we should also be noted,China income gap is widening,in 2015,China's Gini coefficient has reached 0.462,manufacturing skill premium(high,medium and low-skilled workers's wage inequality)is also expanding.Developed manufacturing reflux,other developing manufacturing's strong competition,demographic dividend gradually disappear,all of these caused some threat to our manufacturing and low-skilled labor.Based on existing literature,drawing on Koopman's GVC position index and GVC parti cipationand index,we study the impact of global value chains on Chinese manufacturing worker skill premium.Firstly,we use GVC position index and GVC participation index to analyzes the level of China's manufacturing embedded global value chain and the situation of the manufacturing,then analyzes sub-sectors of the wage inequality,next analyzes the relevant theoretical basis,finally select 1995--2009 manufacturing sector 14 sub-sector data to conduct empirical research,concluded and give some recommendations.The research shows that China's manufacturing industry has been fully integrated into the global value chain,but still at a low value-added sectors,lower status and decline,wage inequality is widening.This is mainly because China is locate in assembly areas in the global value chain,the low-end lock phenomenon is obvious.The empirical results show that enhance global value chain participation will increasing the wage inequality.Enhance global value chain position will help narrow the wage inequality in the overall manufacturing;on sub-sectors,the impact direction due to different industries.Enhance capital intensive will increasing the wage inequality.The effect of human capital and industry scale is uncertainty.Therefore,actively integrate into the global value chain process,we must adhere to research and innovation,and vigorously support the high-tech industries,strengthening human capital investment. |
