Since the formal normalization in1991, the trading economics between the twocountries, China and Vietnam, has been restored and rapidly developed. China became amember of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in2000, China and Association ofSouth East Asian Nations (ASEAN) agreed to launch negotiations for an ASEAN-ChinaFree Trade Area (ACFTA) and Vietnam formally joined the WTO in2006, the growth ofthe bilateral trade in every years is quite high. As the two countries are sharing a long landborder and conducting the economy reform in an opening way to integrate the area andinternational economy, the cooperation of developing economy of the two countries hasbeen a objective necessity. Although this activity has the differences at each period of thedevelopment, but it has always been based on the principle of “respect for thesovereignty, territorial integrity of each country, non-interference in each other s internalaffairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence”.The development of border trade is one of the successful field in the Vietnam-Chinarelation. Promoting the advantages of common borders, in recent years, Vietnam s7border provinces of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau,Dien Bien and China s2border provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi have activelydeveloped the economy cooperation. The benefits derived from border trade is playing animportant part in the development of the local provinces economy in particular and thetwo countries in general. However, there still exists some problems in the development ofborder trade of the two countries such as unreasonable structural goods traded acrossborders, imbalance of trade, missing and weak infrastructure, the complex problem ofsmuggling and commercial fraud, influencing to the development of Vietnam–Chinaborder trade.This thesis will summarize the research of concerning topics from in or outside thecountry, then deeply analyse the situation and achivements of the Vietnam–China bordertrade. It includes the analysis of trade policy relating to the two countries, the actualresearch about the import–export border trade situation such as forms, texture goods…Take Chinese and Vietnam several characteristic to analyze the situation, characteristicsof the two development of border trade; Chinese on Vietnam border of two provinces ofYunnan and Guangxi Province, analyzing the present situation of Vietnam border frontiertrade development this paper focus on Guangxi, import and export amount is small, theamount of current situation, take the Guangxi Dongxing border is the Vietnam Mong Caiborder to represent analysis. Vietnam has seven provinces of Chinese border, through alarge number of research conclusion Vietnam has concentrated three border provincedevelopment is street, Lang Son and Guangning province. The development of these three provinces border trade is more and more strong, reflected in the import and exportamount of data. From that, it will raise the common existing problems, affecting theVietnam China border trade. Finally, after analysing the opportunities and challenges inthe Vietnam–China border trade, the thesis will promote some soloutions to consolidate,develop the two countries border trade in a better way, go through the solutions relating tothe management of boder trade of the goverments, provinces and businessess engaging tothe border trade. This paper considers the three objects have a direct influence on thedevelopment of the China-Vietnam border trade, it has put forward specific measures foreach object.
