With the rapid development of social information, the security of information has become the focus nowadays.Traditional authentication methods, such as certificates and passwords, can no longer meet the needs of people.Biometric features are dependent on the human body which is unique and hard to be lost.It provides a reliable and convenient authentication method for users and is widely used. The result shows that the accuracy and robustness of single modal biometric recognition can not meet the needs of practical application.Multi-modal biometric recognition can fuse multiple biometric features and enrich individual identification information.Compared with single mode biometric recognition,multi-modal biometric recognition has higher recognition rate, robustness, more security and wider range of application.Multi-modal biometric recognition technology has become the main method in biometric recognition field. The biological information used in multimodal biometric identification technology is limited to everyone.Once the information has been leaked,it would no longer be used safely, which will cause lifelong damage to the user. Therefore, the research of multi-modal biological template protection technology has gradually become a hot spot in this field. Therefore, according to the application of chaos theory and DNA coding technology in the field of image encryption and the existing biometric template protection methods, this paper introduces the chaos theory and DNA coding theory into biometric template protection.Besides, the multi-modal biometric template protection algorithm based on chaos and DNA encoding encryption has been proposed.Experiments has been carried out on the face and palm print fusion template database and the experimental results has been analyzed. The results show that our proposed algorithm not only enhances the security of the original template, but also guarantees the recognition performance of the system.
