Research On The Academic Relationship Of The Authors Of The Research Literature Of Pearl S

With the development of science and technology,the phenomenon of academic cooperation is becoming more and more popular.It is,therefore,important for the librarians to research ways to help researchers to find potential partners quickly and promote the exchanges and cooperation between scholars.Based on the resources from the “International Literature Resources Center of Pearl S.Buck”,this paper aims at studying the relationship between the Chinese authors who have published research literatures about Pearl S.Buck.This paper includes six chapters.Except the introduction and summary,details of the other four chapters are discussed below:Firstly,the method of bibliometrics,social network analysis,and visualization analysis are used on the Pearl S.Buck related journal articles,thesis and research monographs.The numbers of the literatures and the frequency of keywords are counted by year to reveal the distribution characteristics of time.The multi-dimensional scaling and high frequency keyword co-occurrence analyzes is used to find out the main content and subjects of this area.Core authors and core institutions are discussed by analyzing and computing comprehensive index of core authors.The paper discusses the current relationship between the authors according to the statistics of their citation and cooperation.Secondly,since the phenomenon of citation and academic cooperation are rare in this area,it is necessary to find out whether the users studying Pearl S.Buck are willing to cooperate with each other.The users' demands are collected by interview and the results are analyzed by grounded theory.Library resources,space,scientific research service as well as the interaction and cooperation of researchers are the four most important user demands.The result shows that many users want to find some partners to cooperate and communicate with,in order to deepen their research.Some important implicit teacher-student relationship is also found through the interview.Author coupling relationship is considered as a way to finding out the potential cooperative relationships between the authors.The similarities and differences between the citation coupling of authors and author keywords coupling are discussed in the paper.As an empirical research,the author keywords coupling and author subjects coupling are used to discover the potential collaborate groups for the researchers of Pearl S.Buck.With social network analysis,the network composed of cooperators and potential collaborators are compared.The results show that the density and connectivity of the network composed of potential collaborators are greater.Finally,on the basis of the above research,the Pearl S.Buck studying domain ontology is built by the software protégé5.0 in order to make further investigation of potential cooperative relationships between the authors.Xu Qing is selected as an example of the study,and her academic relationship is visualized and analyzed to verify the feasibility of the ontology.The application of the ontology is discussed.The ontology can be applied to academic information resource aggregation and investigation of potential cooperative relationships...
