As a supplement to traditional radar systems,Infrared Search and Tracking System has an irreplaceable role in the modern war.Image registration also has a very important position as an important part of system signal processing,it is the premises and basis of completing reliable detection and tracking objectives and a series of operations.In this paper,we start with the theoretical knowledge of image registration,briefly introducing the different types of image registration and its development history.Then,according to the imaging characteristics of Infrared Search and Tracking System,we study the image registration algorithms based on image features and mutual information.In this paper,the two algorithms are studied from the aspects of feature extraction and feature matching,the corresponding algorithm is simulated in software.The experimental results show that the feature-based registration algorithm is superior to the algorithm based on mutual information at the running speed while the registration algorithm based on mutual information is more excellent in registration accuracy.In order to realize the hardware of the algorithms,we first study the DSP-related knowledge and high-speed PCB design knowledge.And then according to the requirements of the registration algorithm for the hardware system design and device selection,and then layout design and cabling and optimization,finally producing a piece of hardware board,the core of which is TMS320C6678 chip.We carried out comprehensive debugging of the designed hardware system to ensure it can operate normally.Finally,we have successfully transplanted the image registration algorithm to the hardware system.Experimental results show that the system can effectively and quickly achieve the function of image registration.
