With the rapid development of technologies such as microelectronics, sensors, networks and wireless communication,Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs)have become increasingly crucial and prevalent in various fields as a key design. However, the inherent application specific design, rigidity of the network behavior and strategy after deployment, difficulty of network management etc.also make WSNs confront great challenges in their research, design and practical applications. To this end, this thesis presents SDN-WSN:an improved new WSNs system and architecture based on Software Defined Networks(SDNs),and provides it with comprehensive software solutions.Derived from the concept of SDNs,the traditional tight-coupling network architecture is decomposed into three layers of Application,Control and Infrastructure to realize the separation of data forwarding and control logic. It provides an innovative system which centralizes the information collection, resource integration, network management and behavior control to address current limitations existing in WSNs.The design of all network components in the system is described in detail and a network reconfiguration algorithm based on SDN-WSN is improved and proposed.Besides, based on Cooja simulator and Contiki OS,a data classification method using HASH function is introduced. The design and development of the nodes' architecture, protocol stack software and function modules are realized.A server-side database and an end-user monitoring center built on the software three-tier architecture provide jointly a platform for the query, display, algorithm implementation, data processing, analysis and monitoring for both of the historical and real-time information of the multi-monitoring areas in the network. An automatic network performance benchmarking platform is constructed, providing a highly efficient, fully automated, standardized network performance benchmarking tool for SDN-WSN.It is proved trough simulations and tests that SDN-WSN system can enhance the programmability, expansibility, configurability and manageability of traditional WSNs,and provide a novel attempt, thinking and complete software solutions for the research and application of SDNs in WSNs.
