As the rapid development of the sensor technology, wireless communication technology and embedded technology, wireless sensor network technology has been greatly promoted. Since low cost, low consumption, strong expandability, and many other advantages, It has been widely used in many fields, such as environmental monitoring, defense and military, health care, smart home, is considered to be the most promising applications of technology in 21st century. However, wireless sensor network is vulnerable to various attacks because of the special communications media. People pay more attentions to the security of wireless sensor networks when they enjoy the convenience it bring to us. This paper focuses on the privacy protection in wireless sensor networks and do more work on the source location privacy protection. This paper mainly has the following research work and innovation:Firstly, the paper summarizes the development of wireless sensor networks, performance characteristics, and application scenarios. The attacks and countermeasures are analyzed and summarized according to the characteristics of wireless sensor networks and communication protocol layers, at the same time we give an overview of the location privacy, and do an in-depth study on the source location privacy protection which the whole paper focuses on.Secondly, from both network model and the attacker model the paper introduces the system model of source location privacy protection, summarizes the commonly used method to protect location privacy, and analysis many strategies based on phantom routing protocol, points out their advantages and disadvantages, puts forward the demand of balancing the energy consumption and performance. Finally, in terms of the questions that performance and energy consumption is not unified and the selection of phantom source nodes is inflexible, this paper proposes a novel Angle-Based Directed Random Walk (ABDRW) routing protocol based on phantom routing protocol, which use the arctangent value of the slope of the adjacent nodes to determine the scope of the next phantom nodes on phantom path and makes the selection of phantom source more flexible and the distribution relatively uniform. What's more, this approach can generate more different phantom sources that are far away from the real source, and thus enhances the source location privacy protection. Comparing with several existing typical methods such as sector-based directed random walk (SBDRW), hop-based directed random walk (HBDRW), the completely random walk phantom routing (CRWPR),and the phantom routing with locational angle (PLRA) our proposed ABDRW protocol can reach higher source location privacy protection performance on safety period and energy consumption through flexible selection and more uniform distribution of phantom source, so it can protect the source location privacy better.
