Since the 20 th century, the wireless sensor network developed rapidly as a new network. Although there are many limitations and shortcomings in several aspects of research on wireless sensor networks, but its application in various aspects has been very spacious. The aim that we use wireless sensor networks is to achieve the perception and monitoring of the targets or objects within the environments and area. And the main problem to achieve this purpose is the effective coverage control of the target area. So it has a great significance for the study of coverage.Currently the research results of wireless sensor network coverage problem has been relatively mature at home and abroad, and it has also been widely used, but we still found that some problems still exist as follows: Most of the current research analysis the heavy cover and multiple overlay independently, and did not divide the target area according to the degree of importance; Research models are also ideal dimensional planar region; The man-made video surveillance is the common mode in anti-intrusion applications, which is difficult to achieve real-time monitoring and warning of abnormal invasion. This paper proposes the idea of variable k coverage, against the above limitations, and based on this idea, proposes a scheduling policy to achieve the variable k coverage in the monitor area. This policy can deploy secondly for the disposable sensor nodes randomly tossed at first. In addition, this paper applies this thinking to the two-dimensional and three-dimensional surface plane for intrusion detection separately. Finally, uses the software simulation platform Net Logo to conduct experiment and get on the simulation and analysis. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)Proposes a variable k cover idea against the inadequate for wireless sensor coverage now. Simultaneously, this idea is based on the analysis of the background?status and the practical application requirements of wireless sensor network coverage.(2)For the increasingly important issue of intrusion detection, divides the entire area into key monitoring area?sub-key monitoring area and the normal monitoring area to guarantee the real-time and efficient effect. At the Same time, applies the above-mentioned idea of variable k cover to the monitoring of two-dimensional plane and three-dimensional surface successfully.(3)Propose a redeployment strategy for the mobile nodes to achieve the point of variable k coverage mentioned in the(2). This strategy can enable flexible variable coverage in different times and different regions. In addition, uses the software Net Logo to conduct the experiments of simulation and analysis, and verified the effectiveness of the policy.
