Research On Gui Zha's "Zhapu Wenjing"

Gui Fu(1736—1805), who styled himself as “Dong Hui”, comes from Qufu Shandong. Known for the study of Shuowen Jiezi, he is an outstanding scholar in Qing Dynasty. Also, he is one of the four schools that study Shuo Wen because of his book Shuowen Jiezi Yizheng. According to the record of The draft of Qing History·Scholars' Circle ·The Legend of Gui Fu, Gui Fu has also written Zhapu and Wanxueji except for Shuowen Jiezi Yizheng. But making a general survey of the preious studies, people pay more attention to Shuowen Jiezi Yizheng of Gui Fu, while rarely care for academic notes Zhapu.Zhapu is an academic note written by Gui Fu during his tensure of office in Yunnan Yongping. It contains ten volumes in total, of which “Wenjing” two volumes, “Langu” four volumes, “Kuangmiu” one volume, “Inscription” one volume, “Village's News” one volume, “Yunnan Continuance” one volume. It is hard to conduct a comprehensive and detailed study to Zhapu that has such an extensive content, so it is necessary for us to make a thorough discussion on the first two volumes of Wenjing. In “Wenjing” part, the ten Classic literature research, including Book of Changes, Book, Book of Songs, Zhou, Etiquette, Rites, Zuo Zhuan, Gongyang Zhuan, Analects of Confucius, Mencius are investigated and verified by Gui Fu.Taking Wenjing which belongs to Zhapu as the subject, the thesis analyzes and researches the part of Wenjing involved in the Confucian Classic Doucuments one by one and gets a summary of the pros and cons of Gui Fu in these Confucian Classic Doucuments in order to be helpful for Classic literature and academic thoughts of Gui Fu.As a master of philology in Qing Dynasty, Gui Fu gave a clear explanation of Confucian Classics Argumentation by more from the perspective of exegesis and character for Confucian Classics research. The main focus of this paper includes two parts: firstly, the content that Gui Fu studies in the ten Classic literature research is combined and classified in order to provide reliable information and evidence for us to interpret literature correctly and study literature in-depth. Secondly, the research characteristics of Zhapu Wenjing is summarized. The characteristics are summarized as follows: First, attention to the collation and trying to restore the true face of the literature. Second, widely citing literature, carefully inquiring meaning. Third, resorting to ShuoWen to recover the original meaning of the text. Fourth, exploring the original meaning by sound, perceiving phonetic loan Chinese characters by variant words. Five, mining new materials, deriving new insights. Besides, seen one horse and you've seen them all. The study reflects the characteristics of Gui Fu's whole academic research attitude. That is carefully going for verification and bravely going for innovation.In a word, Zhapu Wenjing is rich in content and strict in research, which can be said to be profoud and brilliant. Therefore, the study of Zhapu Wenjing has important theoretical significance and practical value for classics of literature research and use.
