Teaching Design Research On Inquiry Ability Training In Primary School STEM Curriculum

Abstract/Summary:
At present,the STEM education is hot in our country,the STEM curriculum system is also towards maturity in the direction of development,such as robot courses,scratch courses and 3D printing courses and so on.These STEM courses combine technology with specific subject content,not only can improve the teaching effect,but also can cultivate students’ science,technology,engineering and math accomplishment.STEM as a course that can be integrated with a variety of disciplines and technology,but also to cultivate many aspects of students’ abilities,such as innovation ability,inquiry ability and so on.Therefore,based on the 3D printing STEM course developed by Shanghai Normal University CidLab,combined with the inquiry ability of Shanghai Guangxin School students,this paper proposes two research questions: First,what is the current inquiry ability of students and what are the shortcomings? Second,how to improve or enhance the inquiry ability of students through instructional design.Focusing on these two research questions,this study first learned about students’ inquiry abilities and wishes through classroom observation and on-the-spot interview,and found that students’ willingness to seek was stronger.However,most students said that their inquiring abilities are too weak to try too much;Then this study based on the information obtained from the interview,combined with the relevant questionnaires and scales,the preparation of a set of questionnaires to measure the inquiry ability of primary school students,the questionnaire is divided into seven dimensions,namely,questions,conjectures and hypotheses,collect data,make plans,conduct experiments,explain the data,express and communicate;The questionnaire passed the preliminary test,the test of reliability and validity and the revision of the questionnaire,and carried out the preliminary test on the students ’ inquiry ability,and found that the seven dimensions of the students’ inquiry ability were not enough;according to the current situation of the students,this study used the action research method to design the teaching.After the implementation of the first round of teaching,the student’s inquiry ability was measured and analyzed.After the teaching was found,the students asked questions,conjectures and assumptions,and collected data.The ability of interpreting data,expression and communication has been improved to a certain extent,and the ability to formulate plans and experiments has not been improved.After reflection,it is necessary to strengthen students’ understanding of inquiry;according to the analysis results,the instructional design was improved,the “learning method” was added,and after the implementation of the second round of teaching,the student’s inquiry ability was measured and analyzed.It was concluded that the students’ ability to make plans and conduct experiments was largely The improvement.Finally,it summarizes a set of teaching design for cultivating students’ inquiry ability in STEM course,and provides reference for follow-up related research.
