Research On The Social Integration Of Migrants In Shanghai And Its Influencing Factors

China’s urbanization is in a period of rapid development.The mass migration of the population is an important feature of Chinese society in the future.Therefore,the number of urban migrants will continue to increase,the internal differences become more apparent.The development of cities is inseparable from the urban migrants,but the social integration of migrants in cities is still problematic.On the one hand,urban migrants can’t enjoy the same public services as local population in urban areas because of the restrictions on household registration systems and related social systems.On the other hand,restrictions on low-skilled migrant population in cities,especially in mega-cities have led to theses population suffering many difficulties in living and developing in the city.In this paper,utilizing the quantitative and qualitative analysis,I studied urban migrants and took takeout deliverers as an example.I explored the status quo,characteristics and influencing factors of social integration of these migrant population,and put forward relevant suggestions.My research indicates that social integration of takeout deliverers showed its unique characteristics of integration,but also showed the common problems existing in the process of social integration of migrant workers.The reasons are as following.Firstly,the restrictions on the immigrant population such as the household registration system and the social security system.Secondly,the emerging business model the alienation of human beings.Thirdly,the exclusion and stigmatization of migrants by other urban residents and organizations.Forthly,lower human capital and insufficient social resources.In my opinion,we should change attitudes on these migrant population.Government should improve the public service system and establish a complete system of social security.Then,Society should improve the mechanism of trust mechanism.Finally,relating departments should strengthen and standardize the vocational training system to enhance the employability of migrants.
