People’s constant pursuit of high quality,personalized and fair education has provided an opportunity for the development of extra-curricular tutoring institutions.According to the investigations of The Chinese Society of Education,the number of full-time teachers working in extra-curricular tutoring institutions in China has added up to 7 to 8.5 million.Teachers’ abilities are the guarantee of tutoring effects,so the teacher training in extra-curricular tutoring institutions has attracted much attention.Nowadays,there are many research results on the emergence,development and effect of extra-curricular tutoring institutions and still some about the present condition of their teachers’ abilities.But there is little research on the teacher training in extra-curricular tutoring institutions.This research adopts literature,questionnaire and interview method to have a deep research on the training goal,plan,content,method,the ways of implementation and the evaluation of the effectiveness of teacher training in R extra-curricular tutoring institutions in Shanghai.It concludes four training features,including emphasizing training on company culture,communication skills,teachers’ individual teaching abilities and inviting great teachers working in public middle schools to give lectures.And then it summarizes the training problems and reasons from three aspects and gives advice on how to improve the training effects.It aims to enrich the theory and give referential value on the teacher training in extra-curricular tutoring institutions in China.From the aspect of headquarters:lacking paper document on teacher training;lacking survey on training needs before making training plans;putting emphasis on subject knowledge and teaching skills,while ignoring educational theory;regional teacher training is not graded properly;the training methods are inconsistent with what the teachers expect.From the aspect of the branch schools:attaching importance to educational administration work while neglecting teacher training;the implementation of each branch school is very different;attaching importance to new teachers’ training,while neglecting mature teachers.From the aspect of the teachers: having no time to attend the training;lacking internal needs to attend training.It gives suggestions from three aspects,too.The headquarters should make paper document about teacher training to instruct the training work;conduct research on training needs in advance and make training plans according to teacher’s needs;strengthen the training of educational theoretical knowledge;classify teachers to meet their different training needs;strengthen cooperation with public schools to enhance the professionalism of training.The branch schools: educational administration work and teacher training should be both emphasized;put emphasis on mature teachers’ training to reduce the loss of excellent teachers.The teachers: they should set aside time for teacher training;teachers should pay attention to and be active to teacher training.
