As the main carrier of curriculum content,textbooks have always been highly valued by educators from all over the world.In the developed educational countries represented by the United States,there are also many places worthy of reference and study by domestic textbook writers in the compilation of teaching books.This paper selects the California Social Science textbook "World History,Culture and Geography: the Modern World" published by McGraw-Hill Press in 2006 as the research sample.The book,also known as World History: modern Times,is still a required social science textbook in California for the tenth grade.Social science in the United States is a history as the core of the social curriculum system,in the social sciences very emphasis on the history of education and its value,historical content occupies the central position.In addition,the combination of history and geography has also become a prominent feature of social science teaching in the United States.This paper deals with the study of world history,culture and Geography :According to the historical combination of the structure and content,the modern world civilization has a certain value for the current textbook reform to absorb the advanced experience of foreign countries,especially social science and history textbook.The article is divided into seven parts.The first part is the introduction to the whole textbook of World History,Culture and Geography: the Modern World.The second part mainly analyzes the requirements of the California Social Science Curriculum Standard for the tenth graders of high school to study world history and "World History"."Culture and Geography: the Modern World." specific curriculum design for the practice of curriculum standards in various chapters of the textbook.In order to better implement the requirements of California curriculum standards for the training of the ability to combine history and geography,The interpretation of California curriculum standards is important.The third part is "World History,Culture and Geography: the Modern World".In the introduction of the book,the influence of geography on history is introduced separately,and the geographical factors play a very important role in human history.The fourth part is divided into two parts : the history,culture and geography of the modern world : the text of the modern world is combined with the historicalground.The content of the historical combination in the text of the textbook is mainly embodied in the application of the map and geography skills.The fifth part is the combination of "World History,Culture and Geography: the Modern World".The Geography Manual is a separate chapter in the textbook,which deals with the subject,elements,and types of maps of geography.The introduction of geographical terminology will guide teachers and students to better use the skills of history and geography to learn about world history.The sixth part is the combination of appendix and history.In the appendix of the textbook,it is proposed that students should learn to find the exact position on the map and explain the military action on the map,and elaborate the process of learning the two geographical skills from various angles.The seventh part,through the full analysis of the whole book of the world history,culture and Geography: the modern world,we can clearly see that the textbook has the characteristics of the combination of history and history,which should also arouse our attention.We can also obtain some enlightenment: the guiding ideology of the compilation of the whole book is the combination of history and land;the whole book has always adhered to the combination of history and land;the textbook is widely used in the map,and the guidance of the geography manual is combined.In addition,we must pay attention to the writing of the textbook "the world history,culture and Geography: the modern world",which embodies the obvious European centrism,and the tendency to beautify the historical figures of the mainstream society with some prejudices.Finally,we believe that the compilation of social studies and history textbooks must keep pace with the times and keep their own excellent traditions while absorbing foreign advanced experience in order to develop excellent textbooks that meet the national conditions of their own country.
