Research On The Formation Of The Prototype Of Modern University System In Yan'an Period

Many researchers believe that Chinese modern university system are set up or produced in the Kuomintang-controlled areas and the typical representatives are such as Beijing University,Tsinghua University,Southwest Associated University,some Christian Universities and so on.What’s more,they also think the higher education institutions which are set up by Chinese Communist Party in the anti-Japanese base areas and the liberated areas are mainly a kind of short-term cadre training,not the modern university education.On the contrary,those results,in fact,are not in conformity with the development of Chinese modern education history.And it just reflects the incomplete research about Chinese Communist Party’s higher education in new-democratic revolution period.There are historical proofs that the Chinese Communist Party had preliminary build a modern university system in Yanan University during yanan period through three-level management,new education system and curriculum and three times adjustments of Yanan University’s organizational system.Based on Yanan University’s creation and adjustment history,this study focuses on the yanan modern university system formation’s historical background,basic characteristics,process and so on by analyzing the historical data.The paper includes the following parts:Part one is introduction,which expounds the research purpose,significance,innovations,deficiencies and so on.This part also includes Yanan University’s development history,modern university system’s research achievements and definitions of three core concepts:yanan period,college education and modern university system.Part two is about the establishment historical background of Yanan University,which is discussed from three stages:the agrarian revolution period,the Anti-Japanese War period and the liberation war period.By analyzing yanan period’s domestic political situations and tasks,this part states the necessity and conditions of Yanan University’ creation.Part three is about Yanan University’s creation and development.First of all,this paper illustrates the educational situation of the Shan-Gan-Ning border area and the significance of yan ’ an after it becomes the control center of revolution.Second,it explains yanan cadre schools are merged to form Yanan University by Chinese Communist Party,aiming to made more people to join the anti-Japanese national united front and win the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.This part also includes Yanan University’s merging and adjusting history background and process.Part four is the construction of Yanan University’s modern university system.This part is elaborated from the following aspects:three-level management,university autonomy and academic freedom,faculties’ active teaching and students’ autonomous learning,student organizations’ role in college,flexible examination system,effective ideological and political education and so on.Thus,Yanan University has established the prototype of modern university system after reformation and adjustment.Part five is the main characteristics of modern university system in yanan period.On the basis of comprehensive analysis of the above contents,yanan period’s modern university system’s main characteristics are pointed out as follows:the principal accountability system,university autonomy,academic freedom,the combination of"production,education and scientific research",democratic management,university statutes construction,etc.
