The rise of a new round of curriculum reform provides a broad platform for the transformation of educational ideas and the innovation of teaching methods.Numerous educators actively seek a possible breakthrough in teaching methodologies which may enable students to simultaneously acquire basic skills,knowledge and methods in study.With the reform of new curriculum,teaching methodologies are constantly enriched and improved.Subsequently,how to adapt the methodologies into a specific subject to promote the teaching practice becomes the keynote of front-line teachers to explore.This thesis takes the Essential Signal Method as the research object to explore its application in senior high school natural geography teaching.With the help of research methods containing literature analysis,case study,experimental research,questionnaire investigation,the thesis systematically sets forth research status of the Essential Signal Method at home and abroad,illumination of the related concepts and theoretical basis of the Essential Signal Method,basic types of the Essential Signal map and the operation process,requirement and application advantages of the Essential Signal Method,applicability of the Essential Signal Method for natural geography teaching in senior high school and teaching design combined with the specific content.Finally,the article uses Essential Signal Method to carry on the experimental research,and through the examination result and the questionnaire survey to understand the teaching effect of it.The main achievements of this study can be listed as follows:(1)The article sums up the basic types of the Essential Signal Method,such as the styles of schematic diagram,line,character,and flow diagram.It points out that the Essential Signal Method can be carried out in accordance with the order:before class,during class,after class.Furthermore,the article proposes that the designation and usage of the Essential Signal should meet the Scientific,standardized,focused,flexible,diverse,timely,appropriate and moderate requirements.In addition,Usage of the Essential Signal Method is proved to have positive effect in the following aspects:simplification of course content,lightening burden of students,stimulation of their creativity,cultivation of multiple intelligence,increasing interest and enthusiasm on learning,improvement on professional quality,teaching level and teaching efficiency of teachers,revision of teaching method.(2)Analysis on the characteristic of high school natural geography,the cognitive and learning features of high school students and the teaching needs of high school geography teachers proves that the use of the Essential Signal Method in high school natural geography teaching satisfies the characteristic of natural geography,conforms to the cognitive rules and learning need of senior high school students,and meets the teaching needs of teachers.Adaptability of Essential Signal Method is substantiated within preparing lessons,teaching lessons,reviewing lessons,explaining problem.Meanwhile,varieties of application strategies in different classes and proceedings are elaborated by enumerating case in this article.(3)The experimental study shows that the Essential Signal Method is recognized by most students.After the experiment,most of students say that the test scores are improved and the interest in learning is increased,memory is speeded up,learning time is shortened,attention is centralized in class,the ability of analyzing and solving problems is enhanced,and the learning style of students is ameliorated.
