Preliminary Study On The Interventional System Of Rehabilitation Social Work For Children With Kidney Disease

The theme of 2016 World Kidney Day is "caring children with kidney disease,preventing the disease from the child". Kidney disease is a common disease in children, most of whom need to receive repeatedly treatment and long-term observation in hospital. In China, the rate of incidence of kidney disease in children is gradually increasing trend, causing widespread concern. During being in hospital,children are prone to be suffered from physical, psychological and behavioral special symptoms, and are seeking for different demands. The core mission of medical social workers is to help others and themselves. Medical social workers ought to serve children with kidney disease firstly because of their disease dilemma and low age weakness.The study uses the theory of empowerment, taking case study as the main research method, and analyzes the dilemma and demand of the children with kidney disease, then provides social work services for the three sick children in the hospital of Nanjing E Hospital. According to the interview results, children with kidney disease mainly have problems such as medication difficulty, resisting treatment, being difficult to integrate into hospital environment, psychological problems such as timidity and inferiority, desire to be recognized and caring, social problems such as being lack of effective support and resource links. With the help of doctors and nurses,focusing on different patient’s cases, social workers use the way of intervention combined with independent work and game therapy, respectively improve three situations,which are children’s adaptation to the hospital environment and children’s adaptation to the disease and rehabilitation of children. The aim is to concern about the physical and mental development of children and their ability to improve, to stimulate the individual motives to overcome the disease, and to explore feasible social intervention system in the rehabilitation of children with kidney disease. Fromthe result, compared to the traditional medical rehabilitation model, social work firstlyimproves the children’s adaptability to physical environment in hospital and help themto integrate into the companion group; secondly, social work relieves the panic minds of children and their relatives to disease, and helps children to be cooperate with the treatment and be mentally supported, releases children’s disease pain, reduces their anxiety and panic, and enhances their self-confidence and coping ability; finally,social work can make up the lack of social support for children, apart from family,children can also receive emotional support from companion,and economic support from institutions or organizations.In the last, to solve the problems in the practice, the social worker gives following advice: firstly, provide service from all levels through the integrated use of social work three methods; secondly, develop targeted and diversified services according to different emotions that children performance; finally, in order to improve rehabilitation quality, we can explore external resources and social resources,establish a volunteer team and equip tutors in heart.
