With the rapid development of economic globalization, education internationalization tide has swept across China since the 21st century. On the one hand, various international schools have sprung up, and the number of studying abroad is increasing year by year, which bring a huge impact on the Chinese traditional education. On the other hand, the ordinary high school curriculum reform has gradually revealed its problems and insufficiency in its running process of over 10 years since 2004. Take the history for example, its educational idea has not closely followed the trend of the times, and its curriculum system cannot meet the needs of the students’comprehensive development, either. The original textbook has been criticized for the preparation of the system, and the existing classroom teaching model is relatively simple. Therefore, it is inevitable that a new reform of history curriculum in ordinary high schools needs to be made.As both the cultural exchanges between China and the United States is increasingly strengthened and the comparative education develops, we can draw lessons and experiences from American middle school in terms of curriculum standard, course system, textbook selection and the teaching implementation method. This paper consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion.First of all, the introduction introduces the reasons for the selected topic, the present research status and methods at home and abroad. Then, Chapter 1 and 2 start from both the comparison of Chinese and American history curriculum standards, and of Jiangsu province and Colorado high school history teaching requirements, and also analyze the differences in teaching-guiding ideology from a macro level.Chapter 3 probes into the differences in history teaching practices from a micro level between ZhenJiang International School and the New Vista high school in the respect of curriculum system,teaching-material selection and the method of implementing history teaching.Chapter 4, through comparison, summarizes the enlightenment for the new round history curriculum reform in our country’s high schools.
