| Xinjiang is a multi-ethnic area since ancient times. With the collision and intermingling of various cultures in the course of social interaction, identity issue is exposed gradually. Uygur nationality and Han nationality occupy the largest population of Xinjiang, and their identities and impacts cannot be ignored.This study, starting from psychology, combines social psychology theories relevant to social identity, and tries to make a comprehensive study on the social identity of the Han immigrants and Uighurs in Korla, Xinjiang. Participants in this study were 830 samples from Korla. 200 samples were tested in pre-survey including 174 effective samples; 603 of 640 samples were effective samples in the formal survey. The results of this study indicated that:1. There are significant differences between different diplomas of Han immigrants in the culture identification dimension, region identification dimension and group identification dimension. There are significant differences between different occupations of Han immigrants in the culture identification dimension,region identification dimension and career identification dimension. There are significant positive correlations between the education degree of Han immigrants and their culture identification, group identification and career identification.2. The Uighurs of different ages and education backgrounds have significant differences in the dimension of culture identification. There are significant positive correlations between the ages and education backgrounds of Uighurs and their culture identification.3. In the culture identification dimension, the Uighurs in Korla are significantly higher than the local Han immigrants. In the group identification latitude, the Uighurs in Korla are significantly higher than the local Han immigrants.The conclusions of this study indicated that:1. The degree of region identification and career identification is higher, culture identification and group identification is relatively low. With the improvement of educational level, the degree of culture identification, group identification and career identification of Han immigrants are also rising.2. The culture identification and group identification of Uighurs were all at a high level. With the improvement of age and educational level, the degree of culture identification of Uighurs are also rising.3. The Uighurs in Korla have higher culture identification and group identification than the local Han immigrants. |
